The picture cost $30 million to make and at least as much to market. That means that “Steve Jobs” needs to do at least $120 million in order to break even.

Maths be hard.

Studios usually get between 40-55% of the revenue from a film distributed in theaters - the theaters get the rest. Half is the industry-accepted back-of-the-envelope calculation.

I was not aware of that. Thanks.

That's definitely a great feature. Might be some use for my 'old' GTX660ti yet.

I think it requires every game to be specifically programmed to allow multi-GPU rendering though? Or does DX12 do all that?

yes the game must support it .. its not a native dx12 feature...

but if it kicks lots of ass, then everyone will want to do it - so...

Yes, I just think that most devs won't spend too much time on it, at least until such a time that Windows 10 becomes more prevalent.

It is doing poorly because everyone all ready knows the punchline/story arc after several TV and prior movies that showed the good and the dark side of this celebrity. Apple fanboys in particular don't want to be reminded of Steve's toolishness.

Love the Windows 7 article, that writer nailed it. Microsoft did the same thing with Vista to force Windows 7 by adding in bugs near the end.

As for Jobs, he's a dead asshole and criminal in my opinion and you couldn't pay me to watch a movie about him.

Windows 10 is much better than Windows 8 and 8.1. So upgrading from those is a no brainier. The problem is that Windows 10 has both better and worse things than Windows 7.

Do you want to watch DVDs, use Windows Media Center, or play some simple games like solitaire without ads? Windows 10 you are paying for 3rd party software there.

Will all your hardware work with Windows 10? I have hardware that is officially supported in Windows 10 and I can't get it to work because the OS says the signature is not valid. It isn't only the company, but Microsoft says it is compatible. Will your software work? Even if it says it will work, I've found some that doesn't.

Basically Windows 10 may be better than Windows 7 for what you do, but it is a crap shoot, they had to have something that was better across the board than Windows 7 and they didn't deliver.

I don't know that this type of movie, regardless of whom it is about, isn't the type of thing people are going to movie theaters to watch anymore. This is the kind of movie that anyone who is interested in seeing it usually waits for it to come to digital or disc. People go to the theaters for date night or action movies with a bunch of special effects that a large screen and sound system really take advantage of. Everything else they can watch at home on their flat screen TVs and not really lose much while still being able to go to the bathroom whenever they want. Popcorn is cheaper at home too.

WSJ had an article on this just the other day, that Netflix and Amazon both are starting to branch out into feature films that other studios wouldn't bother with because there's no money to be made in them at the box office...

For me "Steve Jobs" suffers from the same problems as "The Social Network."

1. They're about things I hate, despite my work and interest in IT.

2. The stories are too fresh in everyone's minds.

3. "Watch rich people get rich and be assholes doing it."

4. As Blue says, we know the ending.

5. Did I mention they're about things I hate?

It's a shame. I love Fassbender, Danny Boyle, Aaron Sworkin. Just wish it were different subject matter.

I always have two things to say about Apple & Steve Jobs.

1: Jobs is dead! Get over it!
2: Get out from underneath Job's shadow.

Sure Apple needs to be competitive but you do need to do right by your customers. Oh and look at them as customers and not consumers.
Perhaps they can start by helping to convince carriers to not rip off customers.

Oh here's a novel idea! Why don't they put that Steve Jobs inspired creative energy into coming up with a viable solution for Spectrum Crunch. Buying the unused bandwidth from the major TV stations will only go so far.
