Day of the Tentacle Remake Plans

Double Fine announces that they are at IndieCade showing off a remake of Day of the Tentacle, the classic LucasArts adventure from 1993, saying this is coming next year to Windows, OS X, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation Vita. Here are some screenshots showing the modernized look of the game, and here's word on their plans:
Originally released by LucasArts in 1993 as a sequel to Ron Gilbert’s ground breaking Maniac Mansion, Day of the Tentacle is a mind-bending, time travel, cartoon puzzle adventure game in which three unlikely friends work together to prevent an evil mutated purple tentacle from taking over the world! It was Tim Schafer’s first game as project lead, and is a much beloved cult classic.

Now, over twenty years later, Day of the Tentacle is back in a remastered edition that features all new hand-drawn, high resolution artwork, with remastered audio, music and sound effects, and some new special features too!

Day of the Tentacle Remastered is playable for the first time at Indiecade this weekend, down in Los Angeles. Come on by the PlayStation area to play the game, and chat with Double Fine folks!

The Cave is awesome.

In your opinion. However, the Metacritic score doesn't agree with you.

And Schafer didn't work on that, it was Ron Gilbert's baby.

Doesn't matter. Schaefer is the one whom is ultimately responsible for DoubleFine's many fuckups since they are all being done under his studio's name. From DoubleFine's own website: Double Fine Productions is an award-winning, independent game development studio founded in 2000 by games industry veteran Tim Schafer.

WTF are you guys talking about? why are Double Fine bad? source?

Sources:

Broken Age: Broken Promises

"So you bought Spacebase DF-9? Well, fuck you. We're not going to fix the shit we destroyed in broken Alpha after Alpha and now we're not going to finish the game, because we failed basic economic math in high school."

Then there's "The Cave"

"Massive Chalice" which was hilariously summed up as "it’s all about the perils of badly organised sex."

Whatever creativity Tim Schaefer had 30 years ago was left on the floor of Lucasarts when he exited and he has the same capacity for running a productive game studio as Kim Jung-il has for running an effective economy.

burrito has been ranting about them ever since that space game thing
and he includes broken age in there... which was a great adventure game and the documentary showing the making of it is even better.

I never will give the SJWs at Double Fine any money. Add in the alleged racism/fraud on top. Pass.

I was a Spacebase DS-9 backer, i was pissed and angry but, please tell me, how do they fuck their customer with this project?

Remember that really awesome PC game by Lucasarts? Come by the PLAYSTATION area and play it again with inferior controls!

Pretty much this. Schafer and co. proved quickly that they are now entirely undeserving of the old-school gamer cred Double Fine was built upon... I'm not going anywhere near anything else they ever do.

This seems really desperate. DoTT is still fine to play as it is. Pretty much perfection.

Edit: Err, sorry, made that comment before seeing that this is simply a touchup and putting in on more devices. Thought it was like a total remake. More people enjoying DoTT is good.

Edit2: Wait... they call it Day of the Tentacle Remastered Blue is calling it a remake
