Out of the Blue

Okay, the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer was pretty impressive. I can't imagine this would have been the case if Lucas was still involved, but I have actually preordered tickets. I keep seeking December 18th listed as the premiere date for this, but I scored tickets for the evening of the 17th, so I guess there's some nuance to the schedule of which I was unaware. I didn't anticipate going this far, but I am pretty psyched at this point.

Serious? He can harass people but as soon as we get upset about it our complaints are 'removed'. Why?

Meh, whatever. Perhaps I should have framed my elementary school comment as a query. It was probably over the line. I know Harlock likes to give as good as he gets, so perhaps Blue was just making a preemptive strike to prevent an all out flame war.

Yet, Harlock's personal attacks are not removed. . .

Eh, they were pretty mild. Just straw man exercises. Granted mine was pretty mild, too, but whatever. I've gotten away with a lot worse without having the comment removed. And I appreciate Blue's efforts of keeping the site from devolving into a cesspool, so can't really complain. Harlock has had plenty of his comments removed, and has even been banned.

I missed Lost when it was broadcast, and recently binge watched the entire 6 years and loved it. I can see now why Hollywood wants to throw everything in Abram's lap. He did a great job with the Star Trek reboots and that is coming from a dyed-in-the-wool Treky.

The SW Trailer looks like he is re-igniting the excitement and wonder of the SW universe, where as Lucas became bored and just went through the motions on the last few. Looking forward to this holiday season.
I never tried Lost, I guess I listened to the naysayers too much. My wife and I did thoroughly enjoy Alias though, at least until the fantasy mythology got ramped up to really stupid levels.

I hated the Trek reboots at first, but I have come to enjoy and accept them for what they are, Trek for a new generation. That's what the SW prequels are too, but Lucas went a little too far into kiddie territory with Phantom Menace and never fully recovered. Abrams does a good job as long as the writing is good. The first Trek reboot had one of the least-believable villains of the series, and the second one borrowed/stole too much from TWoK. They were still fun, but hopefully we'll have better writing next time. Not that the series has a great history; the movies veered too far from the TV series' formula and turned into Kirk and Picard trying to be action stars.

Last week, I think (not counting the "movie")? Second episode should be tomorrow or Thur, can't remember. I stream them from disneyxd on the weekends (until they're available on disc).

They aren't making the episodes available for streaming for FREE are they? Is it only available for people with a TV subscription to the channel or something? This past Star Wars Day they were supposed to make all the episodes so far available for free but I never got it to work.

And damn, I didn't realize how out-of-order the 2nd and 3rd season episodes were. That being said, many of those aren't that critical to see in chronological order. IIRC, the Zillo Beast story arc is almost completely self-contained.

As far as 2D/3D question goes, I've seen two movies in 3D and I hated the experience. It strains my eyes and the 3D effect is not something I care about at all.

good thing you've already got it figured out. mystery solved! yeh you should let these stupid scientists know whats up, you will probably win the nobel prize for your heroics

You must have failed elementary school, since you lack any reading comprehension. It would explain your inability to form proper sentences, spell, or use punctuation. I never claimed to have it solved, I just lamented spending the most resources on the least likely answer. But, hey, if you want to believe it's little green men, be my guest.

I think you are kind of over-reacting jdreyer. First of all this is Space Captain Harlock you are talking to, so take that into consideration. Second, whatever it is, it's unusual enough to warrant a second, third and fourth look. So looking at it through the Van Allen Array or whatever best radio telescope they got is hardly a waste of resources. It's probably something less mundane than space Aliens, but these are proper astronomers we are talking about here, and whatever you or I have read in the media, I'm reasonably sure it was way overblown and these people are aware of the scientific process and will do a good job investigating whatever it is.

If anyone hasn't, you need to RTFA. The spokesman for the array has said people should temper their expectations to meet what has been found previously in history.

As for Star Wars; I'm totally geeked out but probably won't be seeing it until Tues. matinee.

Trudeau will have a cadre of people on his ear at all times and his inexperience will rob him of many things that are redeemable, unique about him. But good luck to him, the country needs him to perform right from the get go and be on the side of the people and their concerns.

He definitely lost my vote when he went with the C-51. Anyway, another very crushing thing for me is how Quebec turned against the NDP on a dime and took the niqab bait hook line and sinker. I don't like the veil too, but then I don't like a lot about what people want to wear, whatever the reason. Then it was as if the last four years where Mulcair performed beyond expectations as the leader of the opposition didn't matter.

Yeah there's some blunders in the 1'st and 2'nd season (the movie was intended to be a normal set of episodes originally). That guy being the worst. He shows up again briefly later, but it's not nearly as bad. There's a somewhat cheesy villain in a small run of episodes early in the series, and a Jar Jar episode here and there (he's not quite as bad as Ep1 though). You do get a lot of General Grievous early on at least.

CW's very much reaches being as good as Rebels.. some parts are way better, but only because Rebels is still a young show.

Everything being completely out of order turned me off the series when I tried watching it on Netflix. Maybe I'll try to pick up again and do things in a manner that makes sense.

It's well worth it. Just know that there's always a bunch of ok episodes near the beginning of every season (and those tend to be the ones most out of order), then the last 2/3'rds are huge improvements. This is true all the way through the show, unfortunately. But the good episodes.... 3'rd, 4'th and 5'th seasons are just awesome, and not for kids (at one point a clone trooper gets cut in half by a horizontal security door slamming shut while he's climbing up). 1 and 2 have their moments too, but they really caught their stride in 3'rd.

Also note their rendering gets better every season, and that too catches it's stride in 3'rd. They start matching the cinematography of the space fight scenes with the movies around there.

Rebels has it nailed, but there's a lot of tie-in's with CW's, so I would advise watching CW's before ever starting Rebels if you're up for it all.

I watched Rebels first and liked it, so I started watching CW. Man I was confused. Nothing is in order. I am still watching an ep every now and then, but some things really bother me. I saw the movie in the theater years ago and HATED the gay Hutt. He does not fit at all. (The only English speaking Hutt? Great.)

PTO = Travel to real places or doing something extraordinary IMHO.

I AM going to travel to real places in a galaxy far, far away. You just don't know!

People take PTO to play a video game on launch day? So why can't I take PTO to marathon watch Episodes 4, 5, 6, and 7.

I also took 12/18 off so that I can see the first showing Friday morning. I don't believe many people will have tickets for that time shot. It's going to be a regular work day for many so there's chance I can get sneak in an early showing without issue.

Edit: Fixing typos. I'm excited; typing too fast. Need to cool down.

AGreed. Although I am not watching this on opening day, I took 2 vacation days so I could have almost the entire week of November 10th off. (Fallout4, Tomb Raider, Starcraft II, AND the Steam Controller are all showing up at my door that week.)

Also, I guess I will not watch it in 3D. I didn't realize they were not filming it with 3d cameras. I love 3D movies, but only natively filmed 3D movies. I have a passive 3D TV and both the XBone and PS4 can play my 3D blu-rays.
