Raven's Cry Renamed; Rerelease Plans

TopWare Interactive announces that Vendetta: Raven's Cry is the new name for Raven's Cry, the seafaring RPG released earlier this year after several delays. They have continued to refine the game, and state that from their point of view development was never properly completed. They announce they are close to that point now, and have launched a new Vendetta: Curse of Raven's Cry website to celebrate. They also say that everyone who bought the original Raven's Cry will receive Vendetta: Curse of Raven's Cry for free. Here's word from developer Reality Pump:
Here at Reality Pump Studios, we are excited to announce the completion and upcoming release of our dark, bloody pirate epic, Vendetta: Curse of Raven’s Cry.

After an almost seven year-long cursed development, we are finally ready to unleash Vendetta: Curse of Raven’s Cry as it was meant to be seen and played. Development for Vendetta began way back in 2008, and has seen every game pitfall imaginable. Even Christopher himself, actor Mark Strohman had an infection that traveled into his brain, almost landing in Davy Jones’ Locker himself during MoCap shootings. It’s been a long and wired journey, but after all the time and all the setbacks, we are proud to say that the game is close to be finished and we launch the new website today!

For new details, new screens and impressions please visit www.vendetta-game.com

There's life in the old dog yet - stay tuned! Vendetta: Curse of Raven’s Cry will be available for Windows, Linux, Steam OS and Mac OSX. 50+ hours of game play, over 360 characters, more than 500 quests, 120 minutes of cinematics, authentic weapons, locations and ships, a free-flowing melee combat system and intense naval battle action await you in this sprawling role playing adventure. Every choice or deal has a price, and yours will dictate your journey, and your fate.

They have a list of changes on the website. Looks pretty extensive and includes redone cinematics and voice-overs, two of the weakest parts of the original game. We'll see if the changes are enough to redeem the game.

I have Ravens all around me. I live on Vancouver Island and I can tell you they will go rip off the Eagles, who are ripping off the Seagulls on the beach, but they don't go much further out to sea.

I'm not sure how they have a Raven sea going game, but I'm sure it's all good.

You haven't played THIS game, it's not out yet.

The ship combat in Raven's Cry is way better than AC4.

Risen 3 has a lot of pirate influences. Plus... IMO it's one of the most charming, immersive and entertaining games in the last 5 years.

I never saw it as an AC competitor. From the lets plays it was much slower and trying to be gritty.

It just looked clunky and uninspired. Like they wanted to do a poor-man's pirate Witcher game. A really sucky version.

From the review descriptions, this game appears to be a pale shadow of AC: Black Flag or its sequel, Rogue. All of the AC games have their weird issues with controls and your character trying to run UP everything he sees, even if it's clearly not in his direct path, but Raven's Cry appears to be far, far more broken.

I'm ALL about supporting smaller studios, but only when their products are worth supporting. This is a case where you should buy the AAA-studio version of the game.

Strongly suspect it will still suck.

I can't imagine they rewrote the whole thing from scratch and that is what needed to happen based on every review and player impression I have seen.
