Out of the Blue

Well, I seem to be surviving my colonoscopy prep as well as I could hope. I have definitely worn a path to the bathroom, as was to be expected, but I seem to be fine otherwise. Apparently the remaining wild card is how I come out of the anesthesia, as I'm told it's possible I'll come away from this as "high as a kite," and may temporarily be more loopy than normal. This means that while I expect to be back and updating later, it's possible I'll just sleep through the rest of the day, while I can't rule out the possibility that I will write some sort of drug-fuelled manifesto that will have the men in black knocking at my door for a discussion about my future confinement. So in place of certainly, all I can offer is potential wackiness. Let the games begin! Speaking of which, NFL pool participants should get their picks in before tonight's game.

Blue, hope you pass everything with flying colors... actually flying colors getting passed is probably an indication something is horribly wrong, so I'll just say good luck.

I've been doing surprisingly well in the picks this year, pure luck I assure you, but for some reason this weeks picks are giving me a lot of trepidation. I just feel there's going to be a lot of upsets, more than a few teams desperate for a win.

Geez. So I got a free copy of Wasteland 2/Wasteland 2 DC for supporting Bards Tale - I must say, I really suck at it. Maybe I need to explore more before I enter the Ag Center, but WTF!? I ran out of ammo, didn't have enough scrap to get more ammo, and I couldn't get more than 35-51% hit on anything. Was doing "ok" but then got to the mushroom basement. ugh. Need to do some research......

It's really easy to get over whelmed there, don't be too down on yourself. slight spoiler, i.e. no story spoiler at all. I want to build a team fast so now I headed to the Rail-yard first, before the Radio Tower. It also has a store for weapons, armor and Chisel is a great team member.

I basically scouted the big room, sniping the exploding mushrooms, while avoiding activating the big fight. Once I got enough of them sniped, moved each of my team in one at a time, single file back against the wall. This way they could attack like a fire squad. Admittedly most had AR, which were(think Directors Cut toned them down some) powerful.

Yeah, you get pretty whacked out on the Demerol. When they brought me into the waiting/recovery area it was pretty funny watching people post-op. One woman was talking like she was some old rummy in a bar, another one was singing songs and laughing. Takes about an hour or two to sober up. The nurses told me I was channeling my inner Lebowski. I asked them when we were going to do the prodcedure and they replied they already had and I was recovering to which I delivered a 'Far out.'

Yeah, I got introduced to that procedure this year and it really wasn't as bad as everyone was making it out to be (I'm all clear for 5 years whoo hoo). Honestly, the worst part was when the gave the anesthesia medicine and the 5 seconds of burn before getting knocked out. I digress, hope your results are squeaky clean.

I dunno, an object that's not letting through that much light is gotta be something pretty far out. The important part which I feel the article didn't highlight enough is that it blocked a different percentage of the star's light the few times they did observe it doing so.

Since many will just read the title...the Fantastic Four story has been denied by both Marvel and Fox.

I'm sure they are talking, just like Sony & Marvel both denied the rumors prior to their announcement.

Who is it? Justin Bieber?

It is mysterious. I'm not saying it's aliens, but what could block up to 22% of a star's light? They've ruled out a protoplanetary disk. I'm sure it's something mundane like two planets colliding that left a big mess, and once we get the Webb telescope in orbit we'll fund out what it is. Remember that "face" on mars taken by Viking? When Mars Global Surveyor took a look at it, it turned out to be just another mountain.

Alien

If it was alien structures, they'd have to be massive, like millions and millions of square miles, to block that much light. It's almost inconceivable.

There was a discussion on reddit, where it was said Jupiter would block 1% of our sun, and Earth 1/100th of 1%. There is some credence to dust clouds from comets, pulling in its own Oort cloud etc... but even those explanations were unusual.

Maybe it's a Dyson sphere in construction. The aliens took one look at us and decided they need to build a gated community around their sun.
