Asinine article. Of course ad blockers are friend or foe depending on which side of the fence you are. The advertisers only have themselves to blame. Much like that website itself....

No, refusing to call a duck a duck doesn't all of a sudden make that duck....not a duck. Giving an unpopular term a friendly name doesn't make it different either. That's like calling abortion 'a positive process for selective human development'. It's still abortion. It's still killing a living human being for whatever reason. Because you can't make peace with that fact and call it something else might possibly tell you that just maybe you shouldn't be doing it at all. Yeah, that's called morals. And intuition. And fucking common sense.

Frankly, I can't stand the Internet without ad blockers. I've been cruising the web since Mosaic came out, and I'm guessing in all that time I've purposely click on an ad, maybe a dozen times or so...

I rarely use adblockers, although lately on Blues the autoplay vids have been causing my browser to crash if I leave Blues open too long. So I was tempted. Interestingly, I see that the autoplay ads are gone today, replaced by static images. Hooray!

I'm both pro-choice and pro-gun. Does that make me a sociopathic psychopath?

Oh, fuck off, Cutter....you have no idea who I am or what I stand for, and per-usual, you're totally, absolutely, and completely wrong. It was an analogy, not a political statement. People having tantrums stops being cute when they are toddlers, you would do well to remember that you are supposed to be an adult cutter. No one is impressed by your hate filled rants and lame attempts to bully others, you just make yourself weaker in their eyes. Shape up or GTFO.

Yeah, I'm not sure Rigs could have used a more contentious example. Maybe if he'd compared it to the Holocaust or something.

First, it's pretty obvious that analogy is going to draw fire. If you have no agenda, why choose that particular analogy?

Second, the wording you used is actually pretty revealing as to your position.

Third, while people are unique and capable of holding a wide variety of views on various topics, it's typical for the pro-life crew also be pro-gun. For example, every single GOP candidate for president is both pro life and pro gun in order to appeal to the US conservative demographic.

I've never understood why that is. If you're pro-life, you should also be anti-gun, anti-capital punishment, pro-welfare (since poverty often leads to premature death), pro-medicare, etc. etc. since supporting all of those things also supports life. However, beyond some liberal pro-life Catholics I've run into, those folks are a rare breed.

Exactly! And if you wait long enough, either the browser will crash or Flash will.

I'll turn off adblock when they stop:

- Covering my entire screen
- Autoplaying video and/or sound
- Trying to imitate the website I'm on (like download buttons)

I have Adblock disabled for a certain few sites that I like and that display ads that meet the above requirements.

Adblock on everything, too much malware is delivered by advertisement these days not to. I reward website owners in other ways, assuming they provide a method of doing so.

Amen^^, don't suck up my overpriced limited bandwidth, don't be obnoxious and I won't block. You play vampire with my bandwidth, you choose to act obnoxious to sell your crap I don't need? You get blocked, simple enough.

Pretty simple. Advertisements are Evil. AdBlockers are the enemy of Advertisers, therefore any enemy of my enemy is my friend. AdBlockers are therefor good.

Ideally in place at a border gateway to prevent the advertisers net traffic from even reaching your local node.
I should be coding.
