I don't understand why kids today are listening to that garbage instead of real rock and roll! Back in my day we played gee-tar the way the real gee-tar heroes told us to play. None of this new-fangled dub wub wub shtup crap! You can't play air gee-tar to that! How could anyone think that garbage is cool! Go back to listening to what I listened to back when TV was telling me I was cool and get the hell off my lawn!

This video right here totally redeems Youtube game vids. How can anyone hate Youtube? I haven't laughed that hard in awhile.

You're narrowing the definition of EDM to fit your point of view. It stands for Electronic Dance Music.

So, because this cheap Beach Boys knockoff has a guy dancing (if you can call it that) and some bizarre electronic effects for 10 seconds in the middle of the song, it is EDM? I don't think so.

You should probably read up on the guy.

"EDM" is a stupid marketing gimmick, is this really where this conversation went? :p

"Electronic dance music" has been around for decades. The 60's is definitely pushing it but the 70's were the true birth of it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g0tenPCmHFk "Electro" "House" and "Techno" really took off in the 80's. It was marketed as "Electronica" in the 90's and now it's "EDM".

It's all the same shit. In my experience... music that identifies as "EDM" rather than it's true genre usually blows (as does the taste of the people who claim to listen to it).

EDM has been around since the 60's. That's 50+ years, so most of us have been listening to it our entire lives. If you're under 50, saying most current EDM is crap is a valid opinion. Of course, 90% of all music has always been crap, so that's not really saying much.

there was no "EDM" in the 60s... there was plenty of electronic music, synth music, dance music and so on... but there was no house music, no techno, none of the 4 on the floor shit that is commonly known as EDM

if you have something specific in mind, please share

Twitchtalk really annoys me which is why I usually stay away from a lot of gaming streamers. Hearing 'get rekt' or 'RIP' twenty times a minute is just aggravating. Not all do it but those who do need to be hit in the face with a dictionary and thesaurus.

I don't watch youtube game videos generally as a rule anyway because they are boring as fuck and I'd rather play a video game than watch someone play a video game.

So that being said, what's the appeal of PewDiePie?

Made me laugh, thanks.

Then I read that little and I mean little article on Comcast. The last line had me busting up.

"Obviously it's too early for pricing details, but Comcast's 2 Gbps Gigabit Pro service is currently priced at $300 a month with $1000 in installation and activation fees."

With those speeds you can burn through your data cap real fast... then what... bend over and wait for it?

Well, adblock is not the only way to block ads.

Request policy helps, too. And Privacy Badger. And ghostery.

If you are willing to go through the hassle of allowing crossdomain links every time you visit a new site. Which also doesn't work sometimes and keeps you from accessing content. It's still kinda nice, though.
Now we donce.

Definitely! I've expected this would happen since they started showing special placeholder images that still load after an ad-blocker removes the ad, saying "hey man, that's not cool, this is how we make money, blah blah blah." Now they detect you've got an ad-blocker running and have a script in place to prevent you from using the site at all unless you disable it. Screw that, you've effectively turned me off from your piece of shit website before you even have a chance to prove to me you're worthy of being whitelisted, let's see how that business model works out for you...
