Battlefield 4 Night Operations Next Month

EA reveals Night Operations, a new DLC pack for Battlefield 4 coming next month as a free download for owners of the military shooter sequel (thanks Gamer's Hell). This trailer shows off the nighttime gameplay this involves, and here are highlights of the planned release:
ZAVOD: GRAVEYARD SHIFT
Battlefield 4™ Night Operations includes the new map Zavod: Graveyard Shift, a night version of Zavod 311. When the old Russian tank factory is shrouded in darkness the tactics change drastically.

TACTICAL GAMEPLAY
Get a tactical advantage by using night vision scopes, flares and other gadgets to reveal the enemy positions, or by destroying light sources such as lamps.

GAME MODES
Zavod: Graveyard Shift supports the following game modes: Conquest, Rush, Obliteration, and the infantry focused game modes Team Death Match, Domination and Gun Master.

I like BF, but the problem with it is it requires team work, and good luck with that if play with random peeps online.

Always amuses me how the cinematic trailers make these games look super smooth and tactical, when the actual gameplay is everyone sprinting, all the time always, with non-stop gunfire and explosions, rushing into the funnel point kill zones...

I love BF4 but hadn't played in months as World of Warships is my newest addiction. I'll get back to BF4 when this DLC is released.

I'll play every MP shooter under the sun and they still don't compare to Battlefield.

It's less about Battlefield being really good, and more about the other games being pretty bad.

Battlefield wins...by default.

I don't disagree. It's an amazing experience and simply looks amazing on the right rig. That being said, it's had it's growing pains to say the least. Still get the occasional rubber banding when someone with a good ping scopes me with a weapon or vehicle. I take it as a warning and move on if possible. Outside of that, the only thing missing is the "tightness" of the controls.

Started playing again after getting a XB270HU, so 6months off. Yes, the game has vastly improved. "tightest" BF game to date by far but still not were it should be. Started playing UT4 as well, got schooled and still getting schooled but, because it's "tight" I've adapted and expect to hold my own if I play regularly. With BF4 each encounter is still a dice roll (i don't DMR or shotgun just regular assault). I don't mean that bf4 has to feel like UT, CS or even call, the game is still lacking in response and lateral movement. Arma 3 isn't as good but it feels "tighter" for some reason. I admit that though I'm over 40, I prefer twitch shooters and am way better at them but, capping flags in bf4, i still get frustrating deaths.

The dead horse metaphor doesn't apply here when the game still has more players than hardline, which was released a few months ago.

This game mode would be cool if it didn't just incentivize everyone using IRNV scopes. Those scopes are a pain even on regular maps. Really wish they had never added them. Imagine playing a map where you could hide int he shadows, look for muzzle flashes, and use flashlights. None of that will ever happen because everyone will just use the IRNV scopes. :/

It would never happen even if they remove IRNV, just constantly spotting has the same impact unless its a "classic" game that doesn't put the orange marker on the enemy.

Doubt many servers would run those options simply because teams would end up being mostly snipers or DMRs hiding in bushes. It's already an issue in the sense that we've all played games where half the opposition is hiding on roofs making it easy for the other side to dominate in no time.

IMHO, this game lives because of the lack of alternatives. UT4 will take forever, Doom is in the distant future and Overwatch is Overwatch. That leaves us with Battlefront (Toxikk never got any love and is pretty much DOA). UT4 is slowly moving into the Toxikk realm, slow progress drove the people away. Only 2 official maps after all this time. I'm no expert but, i assumed that remaking all the maps and game modes with the new engine and adding sli support would've been easy.

What's funny is that I was one of the first to do it in BF1942, and then again in the DC mod. It's actually pretty common in Planetside 2. If you're looking for a name, it's called the Dead Man's Switch.

(that's not the PS2 term for it, but it's what we, "the originators," referred to it as)

It might be a jackass move but you have to admit it's pretty cool, not to mention very difficult to pull off.

It's very cool, but the success rate for even great players is probably 1 in 20. Unskilled players never accomplish it and just waste jets, hence all the unmanned jets flying around. Of course it has been a month or so since I've played, so maybe that's calmed down a bit.

I hate to say it, but this is actually becoming a thing now, in BF4, because of youtube, twitch, etc.

People were doing it occasionally even back in BF1942, but now every jackass is trying it, explaining all the unmanned planes flying off into the wild blue yonder on their own on most servers.

Not sure what you'd call it though, Plane Eject Rocket Kill Jump back in your own Plane-ing?

Variations: Use C4, Sniper rifle to kill enemy pilot, then land in their plane, etc.

Aside from that, I'm somewhat interested in the BF4 night maps, I'll probably start BF4-ing again after I finish Dying Light.

Servers should just ban the IRNV from being equippable on a Night map, if they even have the possibility.

You can't unfortunately. You can ban weapons in a very clumsy way through plugins but not attachments. Or at least I've never found a way, if anyone has one that would be awesome. An admin can sit around banning people he sees using one but that's about it.
