Out of the Blue

Happy birthday MTV, as the network that gave me my first real job turns 34 years old today.

"And now we meet in an abandoned studio. You hear the playback and it seems so long ago. And you remember the jingles used to go, oh-a-oh. You were the first one. Oh-a-oh. You were the last one. Video killed the radio star, video killed the radio star. It's in my mind and in my car. We can't rewind, we've gone too far!"

Congrats, dude. You escaped The Black Hole.

Thanks! I'm free \o/

By the way that ship in the Black Hole artwork looks surprizingly like the Star Citizen Constellation.

Zero dissent about the game is tolerated there. I mean, people have put in thousands of dollars. With that kind of money invested, they've made it literally impossible for themselves to admit they fucked up. They are in the deepest state of denial. If the game never releases anything other than a smattering of unfinished "modules" they will claim they got their money's worth and blah blah blah.

You could take a power drill to these people's gonads and they wouldn't crack.

I'm pretty much done with them. "My Adventure to get a refund" is the last thread I post on that subreddit. I want nothing to do with them and their zealotry. Any group of gamers willing to put others on their "kill on sight" list is emotionally unstable in my opinion.

Here's a little scene I would like to replay...

Me: Don't try to frighten me with your wordy ways, Star Citizen backer. Your sad devotion to that ancient religion has not helped you play the full game, or given you enough clairvoyance to figure out what the hell is going on with Star Citizen...
[Star Citizen Fanatics begin to make choking comments]
Star Citizen Fanatics: I find your lack of faith disturbing.
Cloud Imperium Games: Enough of this! Backer, release him!
Star Citizen Fanatics: As you wish.

Blue,

My avast web shield keeps complaining about an ad on your page:

http://pool.admedo.com/sync?ssp=bidswitch&bidswitch_ssp_id=switchconcepts

As being a malware page.

Can you look into it, please?

The domain of the url you gave(pool.admedo.com) was flaged by one AV scanner, but isn't currently hosting any known malware/virus.
More than likely it was serving ads to a piece of malware and got flaged by association. Can't find any more info on it.

BluesNews has admittedly "sold out long ago" using ads to fund the site.
Every time you load a BluesNews page you are connection to google-analytics/switchhub/amazon-adsystem/quantserve/. Not only do these sites serve ads, they track you. Any forum that has a time stamp for comments can be cross referenced to track what you post. Since Google Analytics is used on just about every site, and they spider most forums; They could in theory look up anyone's name and have a near complete record of their online posts and activity.
What are the chances this will never be used in an election within the next 50 years?

Using a host file to block tracking servers help, but also block ads funding the sites you visit.

The Buggles sang "Video Killed The Radio Star", then two decades later Robbie Williams sang "Reality Killed The Video Star".

And a decade later, youtube music videos kills them all. (Just look at Gangnam Style ,p)

Fuck MTV. Sorry Blue, but this MTV has little to do with the MTV of old, they have turned into the worst of the worst of the reality TV 'phenomenon' and what little music they play between their reality shows hardly justifies the use of the word 'Music' in their acronym. Urgh...

my guess is yes, likely, probably, sq42 will be released in chapters so yes. if you're talking about sq42 vs the persistent universe, it's meant as a story driven intro to the PU that's entirely skippable if you so choose. i would approach like a spiritual successor to wing commander, so if wing commander had it, this will too. that's why i'd guess a strong affirmative to your first few questions - wing commander had them. and i know that chris tried to get the WC ip back before giving up and doing SC, so this is basically everything wing commander was meant to be.

shooter elements i'd guess highly likely since it's a massive undertaking and there's really no chance you'd spend a large fraction of your budget on something and then not have it in to universe intro.

custom loadouts again highly likely since wing commander had them, and they're already in the game albeit in an unfinished state.

choosing ships i would guess a slight affirmative. i remember reading/hearing someone say that you'd start out with a starter ship and work up, though whether that means you swap out ships or retain your old ones i'm not sure.

the meat of the game is actually after sq42 when you enter the online realm where it'll be a sandbox galactic spaceflight sim. sq42 itself will be release in (i think) 5 episodes, all included if you bought a package with sq42 access.

Why do you care about SC cultists on reddit to begin with? They are the extended abdomen of SC forums...

Glad for you that you got that huge sum of money back though.

And imo this brings up another important issue, try finding out what the current scope of SC is. It's a pain in the ass to find all the information. It's on 60 different platforms, 12 different videos and various youtube interviews... it's a total shitfest to even find any coherent current information on the god damn game. That is never a good sign for a supposed "open development" ;/

scope of the game is getting the individual modules working before combining them all in the persistent universe early next year. arena commander will be the spaceflight part of the game; fps module will be the in person part of the game, and squadron 42 will be the SP campaign to get players started.

Ok, but for example, will I get to choose ships in SQ42? Will it have mandatory shooter elements? Will there be custom load-outs? And will it only be part 1 or will it be the whole experience?

Can't find any info on these questions ;/

61 may be young to us normal folk but it's pretty old in an industry which has rampant PED abuse where it seems 40 is the average drop-off point from either suicide or their heart giving out. It probably helped that Piper was active before the 90s when this trend kicked in to overdrive for the next 20 or so years.

Rowdy Roddy Piper died? Damn, They Live is one of my favorite movies all time, and he was great in that. He was also pretty damned awesome in his few appearances on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia... an underrated actor for sure. I have never been into pro wrestling but I always respected their athletic ability. It must be a ton of damage to the body though.

*EDIT* Typo.

We lost Dusty Rhodes a couple months ago too. Seems that wrestlers pass on younger than average, sadly.

There have been a lot of the more famous ones that have died young: Randy Savage, Andy "Test" Martin, Ravishing Rick Rude, Junkyard Dog, Brian Adams of Demolition, Chris Benoit, and a whole lot of others. As someone mentioned between the rigors of the performance and all the drugs they do to add muscle, it takes a toll.
