Wasteland 2 Director's Cut in October

An announcement from inXile entertainment tells us October 13th is when to expect the Wasteland 2 Director's Cut for Windows, adding the console versions will be released around them as well. They offer some new screenshots and the following explanation:
We have some big news to share with you today, so we'll just cut right to the chase. Wasteland 2 Director's Cut will be releasing digitally on PC on October 13, 2015! Additionally, for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, digital and physical releases will be coming on October 13th in the Americas, and October 16th Worldwide!

As we've said before, anyone who already owns Wasteland 2 on any digital PC retailer will be getting the Director's Cut as a free update on PC. We'll have more information as we get closer to release, but it's our intention to make sure it's as easy a process as possible. Keep your eyes peeled on our Wasteland 2 forums as we'll be putting up FAQs and similar in the coming weeks towards release.

For those of you who are still curious about the Director's Cut contents, features, and changes, or may have missed our discussions on them previously, here are some links that go over some of those new elements in detail.

And those do not even fully cover all the new additions, like new and expanded voice-over for many of the game's key NPCs and companions, as well as our extensive rebalancing of virtually every combat encounter, loot drop, and item you'll find in the game.

We're now in the home stretch of development. Our final tasks in the several weeks before final release include polishing up the game as much as we can, including tweaks, optimizations, fixes and balance adjustments. We hope you will enjoy the changes and updates as much as we enjoyed bringing them to you.

I enjoyed the hell out of WL2 and can't wait to give it another run on the new version. I didn't play it at release, I think I started about 2 months after release. I only encountered one quest breaking bug in Damonta. I reported it, send a video of me re-producing it and they patched it pretty quick.

I've started D:OS a few times, twice playing coop and once solo. It has a few "bugs (features)" with the dual dialog that bother the hell out of me and I can't play it like that. I've reported it on their forum and to support, but apparently they can't fix it. Hopefully it will be fixed in the enhanced edition. One problem is that the game doesn't track which character triggered a dual dialog event. For example, the first time I played it was coop with a friend. We reached the town and split up. He picked something up by accident which caused him to get caught for steeling. It triggers a dual dialog and pops up a ! over the character's heads. I asked what happened and he told me. I run over to him and our characters speak, but now his character is telling me I shouldn't be steeling things.

We never got the time to finish, so I started a solo game. Another instance happened when playing solo. When talking to the two guards you meet early on. They want to escort you to the Wizard. You can agree to the escort, fight them, or your characters can disagree. I had the Scarlet character agree to the escort and Roderick being a hot-head and not wanting to be escorted by two drunks. Roderick won the argument and we fought them. After it was over it triggered a dual dialog between the two and now Roderick says something to Scarlett like "are you happy now, we murdered two innocent people" when he was the one that started it.

Another problem is the RPS mini game when your characters disagree. I'm the one playing the game and I want to be the one that decides which character wins the argument, yet the game takes over one character and forces me to play RPS with it.

I'm really worried about Fallout 4 from what I've seen so far. In the last video they put out, the longer version of the E3 footage without some d-bag talking over it, I don't like what I see in the dialog. It's bad enough we now have a talking character, but dialog now looks like it's limited to 4 options and you only see a few keywords and don't know what your character is going to say. When it gets to the part where he speaks to the robot. The robot asks you if you want food. The dialog "wheel" pops up with "Yes Food," "No Food," "Food Maybe," and "Are you okay." They choose the "Yes Food" option and the character says; "Food, yeah sure, I need a minute to think."

Even the combat looked worrying. There was one point when he fires a shot, it switches to some slow motion cinematic camera shit and you see at the bottom of the screes something like "Press (X) to execute critical." What the fuck. Are crits now QTEs instead of based on your luck and weapon stats?

It also looks like you're forced into using power armor in one scene. I hope that is just some kind of introduction/tutorial shit and the whole game doesn't expect you to be into power armor. I've never really cared much for power armor. I prefer play light armor/stealth type.

So far based on Bethesda's questionable writing and from what they've shown so far, this is on my wait and see list right now. That better be placeholder dialog options because if that's the way the dialog will be in the game, fuck it, Fallout is dead to me until it's out of Bethesda's hands.

Bummer. I thought it'd be here sooner. That's cutting it kind of close to Fallout's release date.

I'm not complaining really. It's a free update for me.

Between the Director's Cut of Wasteland 2 and Fallout 4, I'm much more interested in W2DC. That game was great in spite of being a buggy mess on release day, it'll be amazing(hopefully!) with the added content and other patches.

I like the idea of quirks. I'm looking forward to that.

The story is something that's not totally grabbing me for some reason.

I still like the game though. I think I'm just mad that I encountered a bug and couldn't get a big quest to resolve right. I decided to wait for the biggest patch, which turned out to be the Director's Cut.

I'll start over when it comes out and give it another go.

To me it just matters what type of game you want to play most.

On the one hand, WL2 is all about strategy, with the right amount of challenge, plus good story telling for a top down and a is a direct follow-up to the WL1 story.

Fallout 4 is a lot of unknowns at the moment, but so far revealed to be more like a Build Your House in an Apocalypse FO simulator/Actiony/Run-N-Gun Sandbox. (strategy, command-control of companions, attention grabbing story elements unknown)

D:OS EE will be in that time frame as well.

Remains to be seen whether that really warrants a replay of D:OS though...

Maybe I can beat it in a month though.

It'll give me something to play around that time. I'm oddly not impressed by what FO4 has been showing so far, and I love the FO series games...I suppose we'll see when it gets closer. FYI for anyone looking to pre-order watch GMG, they've already had a 23% and 25% off sale.

Agreed.

It'll be my first time with WL2, since I was waiting all this time for the (hopefully) inevitable Much Better Version.

But Fallout 4...nothing can come close to Fallout 4. It will consume every moment for months. I know some will balk at Bethesda, but I'm 100% in for Fallout 4.

Same for me. I held off, waiting for patches at first, but just haven't had a chance to come back to it yet. I'll be head first into Fallout 4 when it hits, so not sure if I should start this one until next year.
