What would it take from MS to show that they give a crap about PC Gaming? DX12 is, from all early accounts, a massive step forward. Why does everyone ignore that?

Maybe because,,

A) They use DirectX as a stick as much as a carrot, infact much more, most of the times it's a carrot it's a stick in disguise. (Want game X, buy new Windows. Want fancy feature X buy new Windows, even though other APIs accomplish the same without requiring yet another Windows purchase)

B) It wasn't needed, if they didn't make those improvements more and more developers would have moved to API's which do/have already, undermining it as a stick meaning Microsoft had to react lest they loose the ability to use it as a stick.

Microsoft , finally , does something as a self serving reaction rather than innovation, something which is already being done by others without any M$ requirements yet you think it's an example of Microsoft pushing PC gaming forwards.

Remember Microsoft does not push, help or support PC gaming, they hate PC gaming, they do at least care about "Windows" gaming though. Why is obvious, tying crap into new versions of Windows.

If Microsoft went completely hands off with PC/Windows gaming it would have done us all a favour. Sure things like OpenGL documentation sucks in comparison but if devs weren't getting sucked into a Microsoft benefiting ecosystem, all those benefits like documentation would have been there even if they had to make and release it themselves.

Microsoft has long been pulling a closed walled garden using DirecX and other things (like Office and dev side in general) without people noticing, meanwhile those same people probably bemoan Apple and their walled garden. It's like they don't even notice they're following developers into a different garden.

- Quit making shady backroom deals with publishers for (timed) ShitBox exclusives
- Stop making ShitBox exclusive games altogether and give the customer a FREE CHOICE whether to buy Halo, GoW or Fable on the ShitBox or the PC. Make each version the best it can be. Don't just release a straight ShitBox port.
- Either open up an in-house PC exclusive development branch or...
- Collaborate with 3rd party developers to produce PC exclusive games that take full advantage of the PC's capabilities
- Make sure that any games published by Microsoft are released in an optimized state for the PC
- Develop sequels to successful PC franchises of the past, namely Age of Empires, Microsoft (Combat) Flight Simulator, Starlancer, Crimson Skies, MechWarrior/MechCommander, Rise of Nations, Freelancer and so on...
- Release their classics like Starlancer/Freelancer etc. on GOG, Steam or wherever - It is OUTFUCKINRAGEOUS that these games have never been released in digital format.

That would do for starters. kthx.

Yeah! In their last "recommitment to PC gaming" news release they forgot to mention only Xbone owners would be able to benefit from it. Good old Microsoft as always...

Right the O/S they do give us that and it is a big deal. But when they go out of their way to tell us they are doubling down (2x0=0) we expect it means something beyond the O/S as that is a given. I get your point, but their extra oomph doesn't ever seem to line up with pc gamers expectations, rst party games/devices/lose xbone exclusivity. For me I don't care if they do anything at all at this point beyond the O/S, but it is funny when they mention that they have really big plans for PC and it is more XBone features for the PC. Why do people care at all? Because the Xbox division was the day they sort of left us in the cold and they could/should be a major part of pc gaming. That they don't make all that much with the Bone after costs just lets a lot of us over here smirking.

I did find it funny that there were only 4 listed when 6 were promised and #3 & 4 headlines to me are the same thing.

I don't care that they aren't terribly interested in bringing xbone games to win10. You'd all just complain that they're "consolized" anyway, and proceed not to purchase them.

Who is you all? I'd be pretty happy just getting the Forza games. Yeah, that's what Microsoft can do to prove they are committed, bring unique games to the platform. Show that they are invested, like they do with the Xbox. Not Age of Empires Online, the games people give a shit about

We've not seen it yet, have we? Not being snarky, but is there anything running DX12 out right now?

Making the new version of DX into something with REAL advancements is a way better offer than a Halo game or whatnot. I don't care that it's sorta what Mantle was. Mantle wasn't going to see big adoption because it relies on people buying AMD cards. Dx12 works on both, and offers devs some really impressive options if people have multiple video cards.

This is all assuming devs jump into dx12, but with free upgrades for tons of people, and the near-free performance bonuses just from recompiling in dx12, I'm assuming it'll be adopted incredibly quickly.

1. Datamine you and be used for Microsoft's internal Marketing Team.
2. Datamine you and be sold to external marketing for targeted advertising.
3. Datamine you so your personal info can be hacked by criminals.
4. Datamine you so your info can be freely accessed by the NSA and other government agencies.
5. ...

Oh wait... that's not just the xBox app... that's a majority of Windows 10's "software as a service".

Make sure you uninstall and disable all of that crap!
