Can you name a triple-A MMOlike with Star Citizen’s feature set (even its early, trimmed-down feature set), and its visual fidelity that shipped in under three years?
Can you name an MMO that after three years only had the early workings of an FPS no one asked for, a small space for you to fly a few ships around in, and no sign of any persistent world? I can name a few that didn't have a persistent world to show after 3 years, some even longer, and none of them ended up being that great, or have yet to even release.
The mental gymnastics are strong. His analogy to MMOs only works if you include MMOs that turned out to be shit or never met their original goals. Every successful MMO had a lot to show after 3 years post-announce.
A lot of games with 1/10th the ambition, a more focused design, and twice the budget have failed to thrive. Why does anyone doubting Chris Roberts' ability to pull off a miracle get labeled a "hater"?
Anyone who truly believes this game is going to deliver anything even close to what was originally promised is believing in a very long shot. I'll tell you one thing, when I bet on a long shot, I don't go around telling everyone making more sure bets that they are being unfair.
