Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear Announced

The Beamblog has a tease from last week of an announcement with no payoff, but this new website has details on Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear, an expansion they say will add 25 hours of gameplay to Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition, the remade version of BioWare's classic D&D RPG (thanks PCGamesN via Dark). This trailer offers a first look, and here's word on the plan:
Though Sarevok is dead and his plan for war averted, peace eludes the citizens of Baldur's Gate. A crusade marches from the north, seizing supplies, forcing locals into military service, and disrupting trade along the Sword Coast. A charismatic warrior known as the Shining Lady leads this army, her background shrouded in mystery. Can the rumors be true—is she, like you, the child of a god?

The closer you get to the Shining Lady, the more you realize your father, the dead Lord of Murder still casts a long shadow upon your path. Baldur's Gate has put its faith in you, but you must determine whose interests you truly serve before you face the Shining Lady among the ruins of Dragonspear Castle...

Baldur’s Gate: Siege of Dragonspear adds a new chapter to the Bhaalspawn saga. The events occurring between Baldur’s Gate and Baldur’s Gate II are at last revealed in this 25-hour expansion pack for Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition.

Hrm, something about this fills me with sorrow. We can never reclaim the glory days of the first BG1/BG2 playthrough, gentlemen.

Of course I'll probably buy this at some point(sale), just saying.

i find that nostalgia in general is fucking bullshit

We can always reminisce about it though.. old memories are the best memories...

And yeah, the first time I ever played BG1.. that was truly magical. Not to forget that when it released, it was pretty damn awesome. And the intro scene (the starting house area, forest and all that) is still deeply ingrained in my memory. No game ever did anything like that for me after. Was my first contact with a game doing actual immersing story telling.

Its not like Beamdog is some AAA development studio folks; they work within their limits. They didn't use a new engine for their work on the Baldur's Gate Enhanced Editions either.

I am very much a doubter for this "expansion". If they used a upgraded engine like PoE did fine; but we don't need "new" low rez content...

Also: LOL@INFINISHITTY ENGINE

I rolled my eyes when they showed that as if it was some kind of achievement. There's nothing great about that "engine", sure the games were great in their day and the Infinity Engine helped on the technical side but that wouldn't have been a selling point or something to brag about 10 years ago so doing that today is strange. Perhaps the fans they're used to dealing with are really rabid about it or something, or they just want them to be.

Looking at things like artwork that isn't just ripped from the original doesn't bode well and I never would have guessed it to be Baldur's Gate related, even listening to it in the background didn't do it any favours.

I don't trust these guys to make Buldur's Gate games, they do not have what it takes. I would rather it be non-existent than a dead rotten fish masquerading as a cheap knockoff.

I didn't realize that either....

Both spellings are correct.

Never implied otherwise ;p

That aside, a certain Chris is writing for this.. so I am.. moderately.. not totally against it. The idea to make BG1 to ToB a single streamlined playthrough is long in the making, and we are missing the story between BG1 and BG2...

O burrnnn

Also - Hell yeah, Hondo. Clone Wars was surprisingly good. I became somewhat addicted by the end of my binge watching.

Still miffed I have to read a comic to find out what eventually happens with Ventress, among other things to do with the cancelation.

They got the original voice actors back (well, at least one of them)?? Ok, I'm in.

I'd giggle every time Jim would show up in Clone Wars. He's so recognizable, in a good way.
