No Man's Sky Gameplay Video

An IGN video shows off 18 minutes of "uninterrupted" gameplay footage from No Man's Sky, the upcoming procedurally generated space game (there actually are breakaways for audience reactions, and the last three-plus minutes is just endless star fields). This guided tour of the game includes narration from Hello Games founder Sean Murray, who explains the game's objectives as well as its more open-ended elements.

this color palette is artistically passe (in a big way), but most people wont notice or care about that, altho they might find it ugly like many others

also the UI and fonts and all that looks extremely similar to that Destiny game

If this were single player like Skyrim, I could see this working, but as an MMO, within 2 weeks, 95% of the reachable worlds would be discovered and named with sophomoric monikers, and unless you grind 24/7 you will rarely actually discover anything new. Anyone making a MMO today, is just repackaging WOW, unless they manage to come up with a new and different formula. Every MMO out there suffers from the same downsides, whales, elites, Beavis and Butthead social skills etc.

It also looks like GTA in space. Just wondering if the sentinels will be as easy as the GTA cops to lose by getting a new paint job.

Also I am finding the Fisher/Price day care color palette too much for me.

Heh, color palette is like Homeworld on acid.

The little flyer drones were weak, but that walker mech made pretty short work of that guy.

I haven't been following this that closely, so can someone answer something?

He said you get to name stuff and it's forever that way for everyone...does that mean for other players too? Like am I going to start seeing everything named after cock and balls as I go exploring?

yes. and dicks and hitler.

Actually that would be kind of cool...Childish but still cool.

It really is a lame game design choice. You're an explorer to an unsurveyed world, scanning and naming creatures - but if you kill any of them then hoards of robots just pop into existence and start killing you.

Now if they made other creatures big and small start stomping you into the ground then maybe. You could even have "tremors" like creatures pop out of the ground and try to kill you. But nope, flying robots - on every planet.

Would be cool if it was an option, but I think this is an MMO. So maybe they could have a "No Sentinel" server?

Color me uninterested. Elite held my interest for a while, but it got old really fast. Don't need another Elite: Lite, even if it features planetary landings, crafting etc.

Looks like the "sentinel" game mechanic could be a major pain in the ass, not being able to even take out attacking AI without invoking the wrath of a ton of auto-generated robots where you can't even clear them out and eliminate a spawn beacon or something. Another, no you can't play the game the way you want because we're going to annoy the crap out of you if you don't play it the way we want you to type design.

that should be a red flag

its a stand-in for actual content

probly work fine on the kiddies tho

Leftovers from when they weren't showing much, takes awhile for the bandwagon to turn around with its wide right turns

I was pretty skeptical before but it looks genuinely cool now and I'm ready to check it out.
