Out of the Blue

Happy Independence Day! Whether or not you are in the U.S., here's hoping you're enjoying a little independence today. I barbequed some ribs yesterday and grilled up some burgers, but don't have anything set for today, which turns out to be good planning, as rain is possible in the local forecast. Here's hoping you're having a safe and fun weekend whether celebrating the occasion or not.

Holy shit Tom The Cruise is splitting from Scientology? How is that not headline news?! How?!!

Their source is a tabloid. Believe it when it actually happens.

I was being sarcastic. But thanks for the heads-up anyway

I have a nifty blue line!

Im noticing an increase in sites that have redesigned the old Pop-Up advertisement to bypass popup blockers. Seems to be embedded into the page where you scroll down a bit and it overlays. Obviously not something new but it is getting annoyingly frequent. Anyone know a way around this? I'm using chrome so maybe I need to go back to FF with all the addons? :/

Are you updating your ad filters? I'm still using FF and ABP. I've also set flash to ask before running, as it seems like more and more sites autoplay videos embedded in the page
Yep all updated. It seems they are using the same method used to put up a paywall; page fades out and no longer scrolls, a box appears center of screen. I read on lifehackers that you could bypass paywalls on some sites but its case by case and not worth the trouble for a random article... guess I just wait for it to get (ab)used everywhere.

Yesterday Cutter and Robonerd posted sentimental schlock to celebrate Independence day, but there's only one song that represents America as it truly is today.
If Russia stops fighting, the war ends. If Ukraine stops fighting, Ukraine ends. Slava Ukraini!

Pharmaceuticals that alter mood also change behavior, who'd a thunk it. I mock, but it is interesting and important research. Psychopharmaceuticals seem like they have the most guess work of any class of medications.

If Fallout taught us anything it's that radioactive waste is good for us!
"Van Gogh painted alone and in despair and in madness and sold one picture in his entire life. Millions struggled alone, unrecognized, and struggled as heroically as any famous hero. Was it worthless? I knew it wasn't."
