Out of the Blue

Yesterday the Gunnar-man started looking for his new friend the deer around the corner from where we previously saw him. I was telling him he was off track when the deer appeared across the street, and, I kid you not, started trotting toward us when he saw Gunnar. They were checking each other out when Gunnar gave a "let's play" bark that scared off his buddy. We ran into him again in the afternoon, but he and Gunnar startled each other which lead to the deer being spooked by a bark again. Maybe that's for the best... as charming as this all is, desensitizing deer to dogs may not be best for their survival instincts.

Deer are a nuisance animal in the northeast. Since killing all the wolves, the population exploded. Dad used to hunt them with his bow, and we'd have venison on occasion.

Huddled together, we pounded our chests and shrilled the call of our tribe. We violently shook the trees. The branches rattled and loudly chattered, stirring birds into fearful flight, causing leaves to sporadically swirl around in the shaking wind, fluttering to the ground in shapes of chaos. The ambience of the forest emanated with fear and dread.

Arrows sharpened, bow strings tightened and armor reinforced for combat, we were prepared for victory. We painted each other's faces with terrifying and warlike symbols. Fear was our ultimate weapon. In sanctimonious ritual, we each took turns and drank from the sacred cup. It was filled with the blood of the endangered wolf. Its ancestral spirit possessed and imbued our bodies with the power of the predator - the power of sense, the power of skill, the power of the hunt.

Together we chanted, "Death to the deer!"

With the mystic force of the wolf's blood coursing through our veins, we could smell the scent of fear, see hidden shadows, hear the slightest whisper, and feel the fall of a distant feather landing softly upon the ground. The hunger consumed us. Our minds were filled with the inescapable craving for the kill, the desire for the tender flesh of prey, and the fresh blood of slayed life. We became the wolf.

On a serious note, it's a big problem. There are so many they decimate people's gardens. There's not enough food to go around so a lot of them are starving and become vulnerable to disease. Epidemics run rampant through the population. In addition the abnormally large populations spread deer ticks all over the place. The lack of wolves prevents the population from being healthy both numerically and physically, so the deer suffer.

Plenty of possibilities, the light up urinal, toilet seat etc.

Cool door handle but if they're just applying powder the door handle it's not going to be effective for long. And who wants to get powder on their hands and clothes? I use titanium dioxide all the time and it's messy. Plus you could just see people freaking out, calling 9-11 thinking it's anthrax.
