Out of the Blue

Here's a salute to David Letterman on the occasion of his retirement. I'm sorry for him that he never got to live his dream of hosting The Tonight Show, but I'll always feel he was the real successor to Johnny Carson, and he'll always be my favorite television host. Hats off to Dave and all his cohorts over the years, from the early days of Larry "Bud" Melman and Hal Gurtner through last night. Thanks for all the laughs over the years, Dave, you will be missed.

Thanks, and everybody do yourself a favor and see the movie. As far as I'm concerned this was the summer's best.
I find that difficult to believe -- I've yet to see anything that makes me think it's anything other than a bad remake.

Max? I had a blast with it. Going top see it a second time Sunday...

I must admit I never did car for Letterman. However I'm looking forward to seeing what the Real Colbert can do with the show.

You're in good company. Even Johnny (allegedly) told people that he viewed Letterman as his true successor.

Hopefully they did a better job of constructing the bridge than they did photo shopping the concept pictures. Some pretty dramatic looking geography though, I'd love to see what it actually looks like in person.

That glass bridge looks pretty cool. But you just know it's a disaster waiting to happen.

And that is so cool! Not long now before people are functional cyborgs. Kick in VR implants and we're talking Neuromancer!

And yeah, that was a good last top 10 list. Carry owned it.

Just saw this flick yesterday afternoon with a couple of best friends, so seeing this post this morning was perfect. Thanks, and everybody do yourself a favor and see the movie. As far as I'm concerned this was the summer's best. Stinks though that the only IMAX showings are on the coasts. Popcorn

I always preferred Letterman's acerbic wit to Leno's blandness, sad to see him retire. His interviews were rarely predictable and often interesting. I still remember how he handled the extortion stuff awhile back, no one else would have been so head on and I think he saved his own legacy by being so blunt and direct about it.

Very true.

End of an era.
