Hoping this is not just a marketing stunt by Nvidia and these drivers are actually better for the game than their predecessors. Until someone posts (& tests) benchmarks, I call bullshit marketing stunt.

Im really looking forward to the Witcher III, still I haven't preordered since it would be hypocritical of me to do so now. Blues regulars, please don't waste time and report back on the gameplay once the game is out so I can hopefuly be only a day or two behind you if it gets the praise I think it will...

I have a nifty blue line!

Got around 100h of GTAV with 350.12 drivers on GTX980 clocked 1500/8000 and not a single crash the entire time, online and campaign.

Anyhow, I fail to understand how new set of drivers could have anything to do with "marketing", please enlighten me.

Presumably they could be releasing a new driver that is unchanged from the previous driver to make it look like they are responsive to new games and are actively working on providing great support. The placebo effect and relative difficulty in actually quantifying graphical improvements will make people think that Nvidia is "The Bomb" or whatever you young people are saying these days.

You still running Windows 7? I had this problem with my GTX 980 and had to tune down the overclocking a little. Now I have Windows 8.1, GTX 980 fully OC'ed and not a single crash anymore.

Glad to...;) nVidia has a long and glorious history (some would say inglorious) of hyping driver releases that essentially don't do much of anything differently than the last driver set. Many, many years ago, nVidia launched for the first time (not the last!) a set of drivers it explosively named "Detonators"...;) According to nVidia, these drivers provided "up to 50%" performance increases in some games. It got a lot of press at the time because no one could find the 50% anywhere--it being very difficult to find even 5% in most cases. That was around the the general time frame in which nVidia was also discovered to have optimized its drivers to substitute a camera on rails event in a popular 3dMark benchmark at the time (detecting that the bench was being run and then changing things), in which the whole idea of the benchmark was that the *benchmark* controlled the camera--not the IHV videocard driver (for obvious reasons)...;) nVidia took a while denying it all before they finally said "Uncle!" and copped to the whole thing. But anyway...you asked...;)

I rather doubt any of that applies here, though...;) Both IHVs use the event of a new game launch to hype a drivers' release--whether it really does much of anything differently is unknown, of course. It's just a way for both IHVs to get some free PR on the back of a big game launch--or even a little one, for that matter. This is supposedly a TWIMTBP nVidia-sponsored title, so nVidia should have refined its drivers to optimally run W3 code weeks if not months ago, already. But sometimes the game developer will change something at the last minute that requires something new from the 3d-card IHV. "Only your IHV knows for sure"...;)
It is well known universally that I do not make mistakes--so, if you should happen across an error in that which I have written, please be assured that *I* did not write it!...:)

3 known solutions:

1. Overclock your card a little less;
2. Turn on Vsync;
3. Get Windows 8.1.

PS: You probably have me on ignore, so you will probably never see these solutions. Rolleyes

We, from nVidia, have worked closely with CDProject to give GeForce owners the perfect gaming experience with The Witcher 3. CDProject informed us of their image quality downgrade to give console owners a better experience (to quote a console owner: "Waaaaah! My PS4 ruuuuuuuules! Witcher 3 must look bad or even better worse on a pc than on my PS4! Waaaaaaah!"), and therefore our new Witcher 3 gaming enhancement drivers will underclock your GPU and turn off half of your video card memory. Experience the same frame stuttering that proud console owners will love! Remember: We at nVidia and CDproject LOVE pc gamers!

There's no proof in that screenshot comparison they have there... It's just different lighting/time of day.

Also, those are 2 review builds and absolutely bullshit. How do I know for certain? The preview build didn't have that tree that partially blocks the view toward the church on the right. The review builds do.

I think most performance increases from drivers like this are "worst case scenario" improvements. I remember reading an article about these drivers where a lot of the changes are driver level hacks for specific games because the developers are doing something incorrectly.

As a console gamer, I really don't get this. Where are these people complaining when a PC version looks better than a console version? Do they actually exist, or are you just assuming that that's what we think?

CDPR has already admitted that they had to gimp the graphics significantly to accommodate console trash. Thanks, AMD, for ruining gaming for everyone.

Well I don't know about all of that, but it does get their name out there. Isn't "Game Ready" the exclusive feature that allows the system to auto-tune drivers for your system and said game? Selling user friendliness... and again getting their name attached to it.
