Gone Gold - The Witcher III: Wild Hunt

CD Projekt RED Announces The Witcher III: Wild Hunt is gold, and the eagerly anticipated RPG sequel is on track for its most recent May 19th release date. Here's the news:
“We worked so damn hard over the past three years to bring you this game,” said Adam Badowski, Head of Studio, CD PROJEKT RED. “From the corrupt nobles in Novigrad to ancient monsters lurking in deep forests, to the bustling cities, colorful ports and breathtaking vistas; all the people, all the places -- we literally spent tens of thousands of hours to turn all that into an adventure that will kick your ass and make you want to come for more,” adds Badowski. “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has gone GOLD and will soon be yours!” he concludes.

Garnering over 200 prestigious awards before launch, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is CD PROJEKT RED’s most ambitious endeavour up to date. Set within a truly open world, the game puts you in the role of a wandering bounty hunter and monster slayer, Geralt of Rivia. In The Witcher, you take on the greatest contract of your life -- tracking down the Child of Prophecy, a living weapon that can alter the shape of the world.

The game is scheduled to launch May 19th, 2015, on Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft, Windows PC, and PlayStation®4. Visit www.thewitcher.com and buy.thewitcher.com for more information about the game and pre-order availability worldwide.

Don't expect any major improvements. They have to keep things simple because of those lame-ass console controllers...

Erm, they are doing that cyberpunk game, no? That's quite different. And it brings the witcher team onto something like deus ex. Droooooooooooool...

Edit:

Sorry, didn't see the end part to your sentence about CP.

Anyone else notice the bizarre wording here? XB1 gets a tagline: "all-in-one system". Hmm, I think MS paid them to say this any time they mention XB1. Notice PC and PS4 are just listed without fanfare. Let me correct this.

It's just marketing. MS pays literally everybody to say this. If you and I say it, we can probably get some cash.

Yes. This is great news. Because it means they can focus on Cyberpunk now

Indeed, although not fully. CD Projekt said as soon as they finished the main game, they started work on the two big expansions for Witcher 3. I also read this that Witcher 3 isn't really the last Witcher game; not sure what to make of that. I for one wouldn't mind a pre-quel trilogy based on the books, since these games are merely an extension (expanded universe) that takes place after the very last book.

I doubt that the entire team will work on the expansions and they teased CP2077 for 2 years now so I would imagine it'd be the next game in their pipeline.

Witcher is great, but it's time they did something else. And they said that Witcher's sandbox approach was a warmup for CP2077.

Well, to each their own I guess because I actually liked the Combat in Witcher 2 but totally despised how Witcher 1 Combat worked.

And quit frankly Dark Souls combat and camera sucked. You guys are to in tuned with Console game play. I like a Third person Camera that is locked right behind the character and sitting just above the shoulder. Much like an MMO style camera.

Having a camera that moves around just kills the experience. I cant stand having a camera that moves around when you are trying to run and the next thing you get is the camera in your face like you are running towards it. just a horrible way to try and play any game.

Funny you ask. Check out ign, they have an article about that very thing. The jist is that the combat is very similar to dark souls, just faster and a bit easier. They also say you really need to learn the enemy vulnerabilities to keep up with the game as the difficulty ramps up...

Coming to XB1, at lower resolution because XB1 uses too much resources for nonsense.
Coming to PS4, at 1080p since PS4 is the most powerful console out there.
Coming to PC, at way better specs and faster loading times and higher FPS because it mops the floor with lame consoles.

I bought it for stupid cheap on GOG like... a year ago apparently. I had completely forgotten about it until I went to download Freespace 2 and saw it sitting there.
