A mere 80 GB download on my 7 mbps DSL line, that'll only take 25 hours of 100% bandwidth, to enable a weekend of free play. That's a peculiar value proposition.
After looking at it a bit more, I think it's basically 45 gig. Looks like the 80 gig was including the install files.

Yeah, I got my invite. I'll give it a whirl. It'll be good timing. I have to do a little outpatient stuff at the hospital that Friday so I'll be recouping at home over the weekend. What's the Blue's guild there anyway? Server? Guild name?

Ill post it in a bit.

Well you can already get it for $40US +/- on some reseller sites like G2A so yeah, I'd suspect it'll come down quick. They had to go F2P because they didn't have the numbers to make a sub model viable. F2P isn't going to work either if people aren't buying the client and I can't imagine many are at this price point.

It's not F2P. It's B2P. It's a huge difference. Huge.

With F2P, it's "free" but you're basically crippled until you flap open your wallet. With B2P, it's the standard model for any other game like GTAV or Wolfenstein etc: You buy it and you get everything the game has to offer. Good items will drop and your account is not limited in any way unlike F2P models. The ingame store is for cosmetics and mounts only.

I've been playing ESO again since it got B2P. There are players everywhere! It's possitively crowded with both new and old players. The ingame community is amazing. Veterans help the noobs with the noobie questions in a generally patient and friendly fashion. Within 2 minutes I have a team together for dungeon runs with the group finder.

Like I said in an earlier thread, I know I would continue playing ESO for months ahead, but with GTAV coming out followed by TW3.. time won't allow it.

ESO is the shit!

with all of the $60 games that will hold your attention for 8-10 hours maybe out there... this one is already a value proposition for the cost of admission.

If people didn't freakout about about more expensive games, i'd say they should be charging $100 for this pay2play version. It would be a sort of tip of the hat to those who only paid $60 and subbed, while still offering value for the $100 option.

I would be surprised to see it drop to 20 bucks again before the console versions are released. Maybe come the next holiday season they will put all of the versions on a sale though. After that it will probably depend on how successful the game is.

The client had gone down to $20 a few times and I imagine it will again before too long so you may want to hold off for now.
I was thinking about that, now I'm not so sure they will do it again for at least 2 years. No reason now, they were trying to get people in to sub them. I'm betting the best sale might be a Flash sale in summer or winter for 50% off.

It's a buy to play now. No more sub, just a one time purchase. I'll probably check this out, as when I played it in the beta, I thought it was interesting. Did NOT want a sub though. But now? I may just snag it. I'll see after the weekend.

Nah, it's like Guild Wars 2, buy to play for free.

They could have a minor sale during the weekend, with this event. I doubt there will be any big sales till summer. The Steam version was different originally, since it didn't launch until about six months after release. I'm not really sure how the sales will work now, since no Steam game was involved in the Beta.

I've got 3 emails about this today...

1st titled: Code Redemption
You've successfully redeemed a code for The Elder Scrolls® Online: Tamriel Unlimited™.

What? I thought that was spam...

Then 2 other saying ESO Has Grown. Was therw a typo in first one? I don't know...

I only remember taking a look well over a year ago and was disapointed with 3D so I quickly deleted this and never looked back.

I'm not sure I'm interested... and 80 GB for 4 days of testing? Geesh! What happen after that? Like you can see I haven't read much about it and unless someone says I'm gonna miss something great I this I will pass. Is it free to play or not?

Be prepared, it's the 31 gig minimum install. On the Steam page it says 80 gig, iirc.

Only for beta players? I've been interested to try it. Don't really want to buy it until I get a shot at it first.

The way they worded the email was a bit worrisome for anyone security conscious as it sounded like someone hacked my account and redeemed something:

Greetings Shok,
You've successfully redeemed a code for The Elder Scrolls® Online: Tamriel Unlimited™. We're applying it to your account now! Your receipt and further details can be found below.
