Dragon Age: Inquisition Jaws of Hakkon DLC Released

BioWare announces the availability of the Jaws of Hakkon DLC for Dragon Age: Inquisition for Windows and Xbox One, offering solo content for the RPG which "will allow players to uncover a lost chapter in the history of the Inquisition and explore massive new playable area in the lands of Thedas." The Windows edition can be purchased through Origin where they have further details and images. A new launch trailer celebrates the release, and here's more on what it offers:
Dragon Age: Inquisition - Jaws of Hakkon will reveal the fate of the last Inquisitor and the powerful dragon he hunted. The new content expands the land of Thedas with a massive new playable area covered in mountains and lush forests, where danger lurks in the shadowy undergrowth. As players explore the vertical landscape and dense wilderness fighting off vicious enemies, they will collect legendary armor and weapons before unearthing an ancient secret that could destroy the world.

Hahaha! Cutter got trolled by EA. No wonder he's always pissed off!

Always pissed off? Troll harder. I'm only pissed off when there's cause to be - like any normal person. Or people start shit when there's no reason to. You either don't read my posts are simply trying to pick a fight for sport. Grow up.

Nah they've got a point here, you should at least read the description of what you're buying before you buy it.

No kidding. Unreal.

I'm sure a lot of this DLC existed before the game was released. Do you really think they called all the voice actors back into the studio just for a DLC? I'm sure there are at least two teams working on this game, one focused on patching and one focused on creating new content.

People don't seem to really understand how game development works. DLC like this is 99% content. That means designers, artists, animators, audio, etc. Patches? 99% code. That means programming and maybe a little scripting. Rest assured, there was likely very little overlap between the patch teams and the DLC teams.

That's not to excuse the slow patching or the lackluster quality of this DLC. I'm just saying that the two having nothing to do with each other.

On the bright side, at least they aren't using Bioware Points anymore. Now if only they'd stop using it for their previous games.

Yes, the deluxe DA:I is sadly a shockingly bad value, even among an already dubious crowd of Deluxe Editions.

Eh, the soundtrack was easily worth ten bucks to me. The other stuff is pretty lame, but I've got five or six of the pieces of music of the soundtrack on my phone.

I personally didn't get enough enjoyment out of the base game to want a DLC that appears to basically be a reskin mod that offers more of the same game. At least bring a new companion character into the fold or something if I am going to be reaching into my wallet for double digits.

As everyone else said...maybe when it's on sale. I love the Dragon Age "universe" but this game just didn't grab me. I can't see myself spending more money than I did to buy the base game unless the DLC really comes across as something special. I am a bit bitter though. I lost my main save to one of the patches and haven't restarted the game since.

Hmm I don't know Lito, they didn't ultimate edition DA2 or Mass Effect 2/3 for that matter. It's weird, correct me if I'm wrong but they seemed to have stopped bundling Bioware DLC. They did bundle up Mass Effect into a trilogy but IIRC ME2 and ME3 are without DLC included. I suspect EA makes more money on the DLC separately so they keep doing it that way on purpose.

It makes sense. You discount the game down to 20 bucks or 10 bucks or whatever and people pick it up cheap... then they spend 30 dollars on all the full priced DLC and bring an otherwise bargain game almost up to the cost of a new price point.
They lose my money then. These days, I pretty much wait and only buy the GOTY version.
Same with me. I don't make enough to pay full price for a game, let alone an EA game that is sure to have an equal dollar amount, or more, in DLC by the time they're done milking a game.

I bought DA2 for my 360 when it was $10 - $15, then waited for Microsoft to have a sale on the DLC and bought a couple of those. Spent maybe $30 all together. I'll probably go the same route with Inquisition, starting when it gets heavily discounted around Christmas time.

Agreed.

One of my biggest gaming purchase regrets in the past decade is missing out on DA:O Ultimate for $2.50 on a X-mas Steam sale. Sigh.

I have such a backlog that playing (or at least, paying full price for) new games is just stupid.

$5 or bust!

It looks pretty good, although there seem to be zero new enemies.

And of course it's $15, because it's EA. I think I'll pass.

Yeah exactly. They do the same thing with BF4. Sell it for $10 once in awhile then sell Premium for $40+. I wouldn't hold my breath for future ultimate editions of EA stuff.

I won't bother with the DLC. I got my 100+ hours and I am done with it. They'll definitely Ultimate Edition this game and maybe when that version is $10 I'll buy it again for whatever DLCs gets released if they make something I might actually play. The only DLCs I have ever played were the ones I got while I was still playing. All the DLCs that came out after I finished the game that I bought sit on my HD or in the "cloud" never having been touched lol.
