Well, the fact that it was a maiden voyage, took just under three hours to sink, the world's (then) largest liner, wealth, poverty - a microcosm of society at the time, and man's innovation and arrogance all rolled into one. If Romeo and Juliet counts as romance, I think aspects of the Titanic disaster do too, to be fair.

People have been fascinated by it, and for over 100 years now. Yes, it showed some of the horrible aspects of the class system, but it also showed bravery, hubris, arrogance, terror - I could go on.

It might be interesting for someone to write an alternate history novel based on the premise that it never hit the iceberg using meticulous research on the men who died. If they had lived, what kinds of effects on early 20th century capital might have taken place instead of the decisions of those that replaced them in the actual world?

Why do people give a rats ass about that ship? It was so representative of the evilness of classism. There was nothing romantic about it. I'd much rather play a Poseidon Adventure game.
