This is where WoW diehards should be going to scratch their itch.

This actually sounds interesting. Vanilla WoW was fun.

I burned out on WoD a little after two months. I'll probably be back at some point to level an alt or something...or maybe as said earlier in this thread I'll just play on a private server to scratch the WoW itch...

I have outposts with 3/7 quests completed and don't know how to proceed. Visit one of the 3 lowbie lone ! on the map I guess. Some outpost regions have none.

- I have a follower as a garrison power in one region, the one you assign to L3 barracks. I read you could summon him anywhere in Draenor as a temp vendor. Have no idea how to.

- Apparently have to grind out eight trillion orders to unlock L3 of various garrison upgrades. I hate doing any.

- Have had one invasion so far, not counting mine unlock.

- Exceptional purple drop chest for Ashran win has never contained a purple, only the blues you can buy for freaking honor points.

- Purple conquest upgrading is slowed to a crawl now

- The only new mount I have since wod is I ground out the sky serpent from pandaland.

It doesn't end with LFR as far as idiotic groups are concerned though. Warlords introduced a barrier for heroic dungeons in that you need to have a silver reward for your respective role's proving ground in order to be worthy of such hardships.

However, this created an entirely unique situation where the regular high end dungeons became universally more difficult than their heroic counterparts because all the really, really, REALLY bad players could not clear a barrier which a sack of rocks could do and we're stuck in a cesspool of nerd-raging baddies.

LOL this is exactly what I've seen. I always tell people to get out of, or pay to skip, normals just because of how horrible it is.

In my opinion:
*snip*

That's all so spot on that it kind of hurts.

I was excited as hell for WoD, dove into it headfirst when it launched, and was completely done and not logging on anymore barely two weeks later. I don't raid, so when I logged on I could either grind mobs for loot, grind mobs for faction, grind old dungeons I'd already done a thousand times, or spend 5 minutes to do my garrison stuff and log off. After a third week, I didn't see the point in doing the garrison anymore, either.

The thing that stands out to me the most about the expansion is that it's poorly designed. It's not half-assed or broken or buggy or even incomplete, it's just full of really bad ideas that they implemented and that's far, far worse in my mind. They actually designed things in a way that you're rewarded for not going out into the world anymore after you've leveled through it, which doesn't matter much since you pretty much see and do everything in the short time of just getting to 100 anyway and can just spend the rest of the expansion queuing for something from the safety of your garrison.

I've been enjoying this expansion so far. Managed to casually go through heroic Highmaul and part of heroic Blackrock Foundry. Can't say that about other expansions.

Someone please explain how gathering is dead? That was one of my favorite things to do in WoW and if it's dead then it would actually be sad for me. WOW had the best gathering imo.

Gathering is largely dead because anyone can gather without the gathering skill. It all happens in your garrison. You get essentially nothing for having the skill.

Mining, Herbing, Skinning can all be done by people w/o the skill via their garrison buildings. The skill just allows you to gather in the outside world. But really, just level an alt and gather on them if you need more materials.

Thanks for the explanation, m00t. That sounds lame. More of the constant dumbing down of a once great game.

I actually have a character in every slot and have all the trade skills but I haven't played since March of 2013 when they killed multiboxing in battlegrounds and dungeon finder.

Yeah, I'm not sure how long I'll stick around. I have very inconsistent times that I can play, so regular raiding groups are out of the question. LFR groups are obnoxious prima donnas who are also terrible but don't seem to know it. So it's difficult to justify time spent doing it... Mostly I'm going back and getting the rare mounts/pets/toys from past expansions... Still no Invincible or Mimiron's head after 3x10 attempts on each

Echoing what has been said, WoD is the best expansion ever. Then after one month, it's the worst one.

What he said.

No reason to run dungeons, crafting/gathering is dead, and raids are dull. No reason to leave your garrison as it's all there.

I did (and do, to a certain extent) enjoy the follower aspect.

This content update is simply a band-aid, short term fix to give players something to do since they've had nothing new to do since hitting 100 after a couple days. If you're coming in to it now, you'll get more out of it but for those who have been 100 since before Highmaul, it's incredibly weak to the point of being a farce. At least Pandaria had dailies and the Timeless Isle to get players out and about but they seem to think that this new S.E.L.F.I.E. camera junk will have the same impact.

I really enjoyed WoD as an expansion, but this right here. If you've been playing a while, hitting 100 gets pretty boring pretty quick. The garrison was a great idea, but god damn is it getting tedious (I don't even bother with it anymore). And it's completely destroyed the gathering economy.

The new LFR that just opened last night is a god awful mess, more so than usual. Dunno how normal/mythic is, but doing the Furnace last night was a light show of "wtf is going on". I really feel no connection at all to the world because I hide in my garrison along with everyone else.

I think it's just time for a break. Have to do that every year or so for a few months.

In my opinion:

- Only one true daily that required you to select from one of two options to farm Apexis which is required for your initial Legendary quest.

- Factions have little interest as they offered little outside of Followers or gating the Auction House in your Garrison

- Mounts were incredibly awful. They were reskins of boring models unless you spent money on their Market.

- Garrisons quickly lost their flavor and became another tedious grind. Harvest herbs, mine ores, collect work orders, and send followers on missions which were useless fluff 95% of the time.

- Garrisons was incredibly punishing on alts since you had to do it all over again for each one.

- Invasions are gated behind hidden kill switches for certain factions often achieved from the Apexis daily.

- Without Valor, dungeons serve zero purpose beyond Achievements.

- Class-design is incredibly poor and balance is at an all-time awfulness.

- Not in to Pet Battles so I can't comment on them

- The new PVP zone, Ashran, is gated behind a queue within a queue: One to get in (often hours) and another for the main battle to restart.

- Challenge Modes are anti-melee if going for Gold and don't have your own guild group.

- Treasure hunting is less about enjoying the exploration and more about getting Garrison Resources.

- Very little reason to venture out in to the world aside from a world boss, two of which are now already outdated in gear they drop.

- Professions are a joke

All in all, as a raider, I spent about six to eight hours over three nights and that eventually came to be the only time I logged in. Honestly, what held me the most was doing older content thanks to legacy scaling which allowed me to finally get off my ass and get Shadowmourne, Invincible, and Val'anyr. Once I got those, I weighed my playtime against the monthly sub and simply felt as though it wasn't worth it.

This content update is simply a band-aid, short term fix to give players something to do since they've had nothing new to do since hitting 100 after a couple days. What a stagnant expansion once you hit 100.

Could you elaborate on that?

I was thinking about getting back into this but that statement holds weight since my problem with WoW always tends to be "what now?" once I cap out. I usually entertain myself with alts and some gear farming for a bit but that can only last for so long.
