Interstellar Marines Free Weekend

Steam News announces a free weekend is underway for Interstellar Marines, and when they say weekend in this case they mean week, as the first-person shooter is free from now until Sunday afternoon. The game is also on sale for 66% off during that period. Here's word on the game:
Interstellar Marines resurrects the old school tactical FPS, offering a unique blend of co-op, role-playing and non-linear gameplay. Set in a believable future, you take on the role of an elite soldier handpicked to join Project IM, a top secret military program being assembled to protect mankind from all dangers outside our solar system.

They're on strict patrol routes it seems as well. Running through Neurogen gets easier each time as you know where the robots will be/when they will come walking by.
Yeah random spawn points for them would have been awesome.
Not much replay value ones you know where the bots are

Yeah, being Unity 4, I would imagine the most noticeable improvement would be performance since it'll support multi-core processors rather than park everything on a single core.

The Neurogen campaign is pretty fun but it feels rather...hollow given how large the rooms can be and how static the enemies are.

I decided to buy this game years ago when it was just a few flash demos and a promise, a kind of pre-kickstarter I guess. I then promoptly forgot about it until last year when I noticed it on Steam.

Then remembering I had bought it already, started playing it again. I have to say initially I did not enjoy it at all and stopped playing, but after I noticed they had an update I started playing multiplayer again. I was hooked (200+ hours in now), and enjoyed how chatty and friendly everyone was on the one EU server that seemed to have players.

It was extremely tough to kill people, and at the time the lack of lag compensation made things really hard.
But there have been quite a few updates since then and each one seems to overall improve the game (although I wish the would fix the damn chat bug).
The content is limited in terms of a campaign mode, but the co-op stuff is actually quite good fun. I think for what you pay, the content is superb and there is a promise of more as development continues, it will also be interesting to see what improvements are made once a Unity 5 version is released.

Gave the game a try yesterday. This'll please the COD crowd, but no-one else.

Yes it's Unity, in fact you used to be able to play the whole thing through your browser before they transitioned to Steam EA. But what they have now, single-player wise, is nothing compared to the campaign they're supposed to be working on. I don't even know anymore.
Oh really?
Wow I didn't know that. It looks pretty cool and I like the more realistic shooter aspect of it, kind of like Insurgency sci fi edition.
It is very bare bones though.

There's something about it which feels weird, like it's some kind of glorified flash game.
maybe the unity game engine?
I do like what they are going for though. After playing it a bit more I am enjoying it but wish the enemy locations would be random.
Not much replayability ones you learn where the enemies are. At least in SP.
Also don't like how the corpses and bullet holes all just disappear. Almost immediately.

By the way Blue. It's a free week not weekend. It's Monday.
Steam screwed up the announcement

Been looking at this game for a while so great news for me to jump in and try. It's only a 1GB install but I hope it has the campaign.
It has SP, not sure if that is a campaign or not but it is more like kill all the robots on the map.
Performance wise the game runs like a dog on my machine though.
I know it is early access and all that jazz but graphics aren't that hot imo to make my GTX760 crawl on 1080p
