Paradox Vets Plan Galactic Inheritors

Crispon Games is a new independent studio formed by former Paradox Interactive designer Chris King and programmer Pontus Åberg, who announce development of Galactic Inheritors, a 4X space strategy game which will launch on Steam early access next week. There are some screenshots on the Crispon Games website, and here's a trailer. "When I left Paradox Interactive, I set out to create the game I always dreamed of making," said lead designer Chris King. "We would sit around, talking about turning certain game ideas into actual games, but some never made it past the idea stage. I very much enjoyed my time at Paradox and am proud of the great games we made there. However, I deeply felt Galactic Inheritors is a game I needed to make, and make outside the constraints of a bigger studio. I knew I would deeply regret not taking the chance to make it happen." Here's more:
Galactic Inheritors returns to the roots of classic 4X games, taking the genre to a bold new frontier that offers a strong science fiction mythos grounded in reality, with deep strategy gameplay aimed at hardcore gamers. Players will explore a vast and diverse galaxy as leader of a budding galactic empire, eager to expand their influence and exterminate those that would oppose them.

No, I actually thought it was from Paradox whoops. However I still don't see how this is in any way something different to the usual 4x blur.

This. Nothing on the page or the clip presents a single reason why you should by this instead of half a dozen other alternatives.

Who owns the rights to Master of Orion now?

MOO3 was published by (the new) Atari. I assume if anyone bought it from them, we'd be seeing the results.

As for what Paradox does, I have a lot of respect for their strategy games. What they do, they tend to do well.

And another "paint the galaxy your color" game.. sigh... but then, I don't expect innovation from Paradox

So, it's Paradox, but not Kerberos. Could be good, could be bad? But it's definitely platform for DLCs and I don't really mind, for some reason.
