Windows 10 Free with Raspberry Pi 2

The Verge reports an interesting offer from Microsoft, as apparently they plan to support the just announced Raspberry Pi 2 mini-computer with a free version of Windows 10. With the Raspberry Pi 2 carrying a $35.00 price tag, this will make creating a Windows PC easier on the wallet than ever, though they note that this will likely only run modern apps on its ARM-based processor. Thanks nin.

This isn't about getting people to move to W10. It's about retaining relevance by trying to win the minds of children, much like the Minecraft acquisition. Specifically, this is about future engineers. No techy kid does anything interesting on Microsoft's platform anymore today. In this sense it's a sensible and smart move; as someone who doesn't like MS much though, it feels more like a trojan horse.

but why the heck is it that important anyway? don't trust magazines, don't trust journalists, don't trust men, don't trust women. trust in yourself and everything should be okay. fanatics are the worst everywhere and if you look to those who feel that their gender isn't properly displayed.. they are even worse (men AND women).

MS seems to be moving in the right direction by open sourcing their .Net stack and making Win 10 upgrades free. Even their Surface seems to be turning around. Now this? I like the pattern that seems to be resolving from the smoke. New CEO could be what they really needed. Just gotta be realistic enough to know it's not all out of wishes for world peace...

Wow, they are really desperate to get people to move to Windows 10. Understandable though, considering how hard it was to get people to move on from XP.

Funny, I've needed a Windows login for years to make any application to work. Since, oh, about 1995. Even machines that auto-login have a Windows login. Something something multi-user operating system.

I'd list that as a selling point frankly.

W10 means that development for the pi will open up some (I guess it'l open up to VB?) which is cool for a lot of stuff. More importantly it opens up to more versions of linux which is arguably bigger.

Well its not going to run Call of duty anytime soon. Nor anything steam related. Nor is W10 a step forward from W7. Windows apps suck terribly. You need a windows login for the apps to work. There are virus's everywhere and the browser sux ass. And the worst think is PI is powerless to run anything smoothly. So bite me....
