PC Grand Theft Auto V Delayed to March; Specs Revealed

Rockstar Games has a new post about the PC Edition of Grand Theft Auto V, including a new release date of March 24th, just two weeks after saying "We have not announced any changes to this date at this time" (to quote Nicolas Cage from The Rock, "Gosh, kind of a lot has happened since then"). One of the reasons gamers grew suspicious that the PC version of the open world action game was delayed was that Rockstar hadn't yet released system specifications, which they have now remedied with a full set of specs as well as the first screenshots from the PC edition. Here's word:
As we head into 2015, we would like to share the first screens and system specs of Grand Theft Auto V for PC as well as a new release date of March 24, 2015.

Our apologies for the slight shift in the date but the game requires a few extra weeks of testing and polish to make it as good as can be. Moving a release date is never a decision we take lightly and is a choice we make only when we know it is in the best interests of the game and our fans. Thanks everyone for your understanding and we assure you these few extra weeks will be worth it when the game does arrive in March.

GTA Online for PC, which will support up to 30 players, will launch alongside GTAV for PC and will include GTA Online Heists. Online Heists for consoles will be launching in the coming weeks ahead of the PC launch.

Click on each new screenshot to see them in full 4K resolution, and read on for the game's official system specifications and additional info.

GTAV for PC pushes Los Santos and Blaine County to even greater levels of detail, running at 1080p and 60fps with up to 4K resolution and support for up to triple monitor configurations, as well as NVidia 3D Vision for up to triple monitor setups.

GTAV for PC also includes the new Rockstar Editor, which gives players a full suite of editing tools to create and publish gameplay clips direct to both Social Club and YouTube.

Below, check out official minimum and recommended specs and stay tuned for more information on GTAV for PC in the coming weeks.

PC games don't hold value very long compared to consoles so just wait a few months and play it then. I'm not going to question why anyone bought the game three times already but hey at least then there's no rush to play it a fourth time right?

Otherwise I suggest hitting up GMG sometime, they usually have 10-20% off new games.

Edit: I don't see GTA V on there at the moment unfortunately. Might wanna keep an eye on this thread.

'We all' don't agree with that and anyone who says otherwise is a liar etc etc. I find fault with the logic that 'oh well other people will buy it so I guess I have to'. I don't care what millions of other people do, I do what I do. Publishers absolutely care about your money and they always want more of it. So if you keep buying 3 versions of the same game at full price, of course they're going to keep offering it to you at that price whenever possible. They aren't selling rolls royces here, they're selling videogames with fairly low margins. They aren't going to give you a discount unless they have a reason to and when you keep buying the same game multiple times at full price you're actually giving them a reason not to.

Don't get me wrong, I would love a discount on the game too. I bought it on 1 platform and I would like a discount, let alone 3. That's not going to happen though so I won't buy it on release day. Our only power is in our wallets, why surrender it? Plenty of other games to play.

That was your choice which you made of your own free will. If you keep buying these copies at full price, why do they have any incentive to offer a discount? Makes no sense at all. Next time vote with your wallet if you want a discount. That's a language publishers listen to.

Recommended doesn't mean run everything at max settings at 60fps
We'll see when the game comes out.

That's true, but more often than not it's a good indication. Hell, "not everything at max" to me usually means just taking the AA a nodge down and on some rare occasions putting Shadows on Very High instead of Ultra.

Having good faith in it with these recommended specs! But, as you said... we'll see.

You come across like an ass, so here, let me talk your language.

I BOUGHT 3 FUCKING COPIES OF THE GAME YOU [expletive deleted].

Has nothing to do with entitlement, not sure how you get that out of what I said, you are probably bleeding my comments over with someone else's. Next time don't use the quote function.

It isn't a different product. It is a re textured version of the same game.

It isn't unheard of to get a discount because you have a game from a publishers catalog. Happens all the time, not sure why you think it is the same as a car or house? Does the game appreciate to the tune of 350k when I don't want it anymore? Do I have a title to the game that I can sell after I have applied really cool upgrades to it? Your reverse nerd rage is confusing.

Just one other point I'd like to touch on. As general rule, big companies simply do not respond to rumors. Pure and simple. The response they did give left it open and most folks picked up on that. Referring to his phrase "at this time".

Why does this happen? Lots of possibilities.
They haven't made the final decision yet. They have decided, but have not yet contacted all their vendors, distributors and everyone else involved that they do need to inform. These people shouldn't find out from rumor or PR releases. This is where those rumors usually come from anyways. Consumers come last. So when rumors come out, they are generally denied with bottled responses. This goes back to what I said in another post "in this thread" (in case you are unclear)...anyone that follows the game industry should know this by now.

I know you think you aren't alone being upset by the delay, but you really are. Everywhere I've looked has most people saying they don't care either way or the extra time is a good thing. Very few people have said they willl no longer get the game. And your post is the only one I've seen with such a freak out.

I like the idea of discounting it though - even down to $49.99, or find a way to discount it for those of us who already purchased it on another system. Not a huge deal, but should be done anyway.

Why?

It's a different product. Don't choose to buy a new product if you feel you need your feeling of entitlement satisfied.

So, honestly, I'm wondering why you think "it should be done anyway". Should you get a discount on this year's model of car just because you bought last year's model too? You buy a house, you think the next house you buy should give you a discount too? Seriously? Tons of work went into the re-releases. What did YOU do to help?

It would be nice yes. Did Batman say he expected it and will freak out like Rigs if they don't? No. It wouldn't be the first time that a dev/pub would offer a discount to existing owners of an upgraded game.

And I can guarantee you that if I was upgrading to a new car every year from the same dealer...you would absolutely 100% get a discount for being a faithful customer. The dealer would be a fool not to as I could just got the next dealer to get a couple grand off the price of a new car every year.

It's pretty unlikely you'd kill a motherboard just through static discharge on the power button, unless the motherboard was already shorted to the case somehow. We have standoffs and an I/O shield to prevent that. Hell, most cases these days are only partially metal anyway, usually with plastic faces and frames. A properly enclosed metal computer case acts as a Faraday Cage, too.

You may need a Faraday cage for EMFs, but not ESDs.

ESD shouldn't kill a computer by touching the power button as long as:

-the motherboard is grounded to the case
-the case is grounded to the power supply
-the power supply is grounded to the home electrical system
-and the home electrical system has a proper ground

It seems unlikely a MB manufacturer would overlook proper grounding. I would advise checking the other bullet points mentioned.

Also, FWIW, computer cases are NOT Faraday cages. A Faraday cage needs to fully envelop the electrical compoments to shield them from EMFs. I don't think there's any consumer computer case that would fit this requirement.

You car analogy works better with a house but still kind of moot. You don't buy a new house to keep up with advances in technology, you upgrade it. And yes, I would expect (and receive) a discount from my local dealer for buying a newer model car if I bought the previous from them.

I have nothing to add to the point, just that it is typical to expect a discount in that situation (although The Witcher is doing a great thing bringing 'loyalty' rewards with discount on The Witcher 3)

My guess would be that those recommended settings will be for medium settings. The amount of detail in this game is incredible.
