So if there is no NDA etc, how do you guys find the game so far? So desperate to play this, ugh!
There's an NDA.
The first rule of Fortnite: Don't talk about Fortnite.![]()
Beamer: You still want that code?

Sony kind of does have a Minecraft clone in development with EQ Next Landmark. I am pretty sure Next or Landmark will ever rise above niche status for most people and certainly no where near Minecraft levels.
Isn't Fortnite coming to PS4?
Its a PC exclusive as far as I know. Fortnite is more of an actual game than a free-form construction toolset. Yes you build forts but you have no where near the amount of options.
I played Fortnite for two hours at PAX.
It's not really Minecrafty. Like you said, you don't have as many options. You're literally building a fort, not intricate binary machines or rail systems that people do in Minecraft. You actually have a startling amount of options for that fort (like, windows, not sure what purpose they serve but you can build them), but it's still limited. What's nice is that you pick when the zombies attack, so you could spend hours building a huge fort. With OMD style traps (that I never learned how to use and which seemed limited in options, though the build I played was already 8 months old.)
The biggest difference is that you don't go into the ground in Fortnite. The landscape is already there. You just build on it. This doesn't mean no destruction - you are playing in towns, and I found it amazingly satisfying to reduce a mansion to rubble.
I loved Fortnite. There were a huge amount of holes, but Epic seemed aware and seemed to be filling those holes. That said, I played it in a preview style environment. Free drinks? Free swag? Devs sitting next to me breathlessly explaining features? It was hard not to love it. Maybe impossible. In the hours after I started thinking of the things I didn't like and they bugged me more, but I also mentioned most of these to the developers and they hinted that they'd already had those ideas and had already addressed them, or were working to.
It's no Minecraft, but it's a nice mix of Minecraft and purpose, for those of us that prefer games that give us purpose. I don't see people playing it for billions of hours, but I could see people playing it for months. Honestly, nearly any time I've played Minecraft I've thought "man, I wish I had guns and items." This gives you the guns and items, but removes the mining.
Lastly, whenever I see kids around 10 playing, they're in full sandbox mode. No creeps, no gravity, no resource collecting. Just god mode, no clip mode, infinite resources, and building giant things. Fortnite won't appeal to them like that. But it will capture the shooter curious about Minecraft, and maybe the Minecraft player curious about shooters.

I get the impression epic is almost like valve. They are more focused on something besides making games(valve steam, epic the engine itself to sell) that they are no rush to release a game. Could also be like what happened with the last UT where the dev team obviously got bored and focused on gears more. They eventually shoved out another UT but it was obvious there was 0 passion.
