We’ve been working hard to fix the problems players are reporting, and the patches we have released so far have resolved many of them. Today, we’re releasing our third patch, which fixes a variety of specific issues related to the game’s stability and performance, matchmaking and connectivity, gameplay and menus. You can find the release notes on that patch here: Patch 3 Notes
To show our appreciation for your continued support, we’re making the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Unity Dead Kings DLC free for everyone. For Season Pass holders, we will also offer the choice of one additional game from a selection of Ubisoft titles for free. More details on the offer for Season Pass holders can be found here: AC Unity FAQ
In addition to the latest patch and this offer, we are committed to delivering further fixes for other issues you’ve raised. In the meantime, please keep your feedback coming – it has been both humbling and incredibly helpful as we continue working hard to improve the overall quality of the game. We are hopeful that with these forthcoming updates, everyone will be able to truly enjoy their Assassin’s Creed Unity experience.
We will continue striving to make Assassin’s Creed one of the most ambitious and innovative franchises on the market, and we thank you for your continued loyalty and support.

OK, is it just me or do the faces in Unity look WORSE than the faces in Black Flag? I got both for free with my XBone, and was comparing just to be sure. The faces seem blurry or something in Unity.
Dunno don't care. AC4 is probably the pinnacle of the series. I've been waiting for a good age of sail game for ages and this is as close as it's going to get I guess.
If I had just won the lottery I'd seriously consider licensing the engine and building a Napoleonic Wars age of sail game.
Lol if you think thats the best there is I guess you havent seen this:

Be warned, it will probably make you cum in your pants.
That looks great! But I tend not to get excited about games that haven't shipped yet, and think it's unfair to compare them to games that do exist. That thing is still in Star Citizen territory by the look of things and therefore is not much better than a dream.
Black Flag is better than this right now because it actually exists and runs quite well. It's also a fun game but would have been better as a "Pirates!" remake with more light sim action and a bigger world map.

I suspect they're trying to avoid the EA route of getting a class action lawsuit (BF4 last fall). Not that the lawsuit hurt them, but it did get their shareholders attention.
You can bet they're not giving away AAA $60 titles out of the kindness of their hearts.
They're not based in America, so class action isn't really a big concern for them. Litigating a French company would be expensive. It really does look like a genuine gesture to make things right. Can't fault them for that, even if Assassins Creed Unity will still be a bag of crap, patched or not.

Wow. Credit where it's due. "Hey we fucked up, and we're sorry. Here's a bunch of free shit, including one from a few of our newest, premier titles."
