The Crew Trailer

A new trailer from The Crew promotes the Season Pass for Ubisoft's open world driving game. Here's the pitch:
Race across the Unites States in style with The Crew™ Season Pass. Gain access to two exclusive vehicles: the Ferrari 458 Speciale and McLaren 12C on December 2, 2014, plus four themed car packs to be released monthly. Extreme Car Pack includes performance cars, perfect for exhilarating, high-octane missions. Speed Car Pack includes sports cars, finely tuned for breakneck-speed races. Vintage Car Pack includes vintage rides, fashionable for missions set in iconic American locales. Raid Car Pack includes off-road vehicles, highly recommended for all-terrain missions. Season Pass holders will also receive early access to each of the four car packs one week in advance, including new stickers, paint jobs and tuning kits.

Wow, I thought this was some kind of shooter. I guess I was wrong.

Funny. I too could have sworn there was a third person shooter called The Crew a couple of years back but I cant find any reference to it in a quick google search.

There was. I remember looking at it a few times on Direct2Drive. Nearly bought it a couple times. I tried searching too, but couldn't come up with anything. It's actually driving me crazy now. I can see the cover of it in my head. White background, close up of a dude's face, guns spread out in a circle, and I'm thinking a car too.

Anyway. This new one: I was mildly interested until I played the beta. Actual driving wasn't too bad, but the locals had nothing to do with anything. I drove from the starting city to Seattle. The route took me up through (what would be in real life) North Dakota, Montana, Idaho, then into Washington. Never in that trip did I see anything resembling reality. No plains through Dakota or Montana, and when I got to Seattle, I thought, "are you fucking kidding me? they're calling THIS Seattle?". I mean, the only thing actually resembling Seattle is the Space Needle. I know they can't exactly have 1:1 mapping, but sheesh.
I'm sure there'll be lots of people that love this game, but it's definitely not for me.
