Out of the Blue

I've been getting around pretty well on my twice-sprained ankle thanks to some help from a neoprene brace. The itch of healing is starting to make me nuts because it's below the skin, but it also hasn't healed up enough to put it through much without a brace, and I can't really say when I'll get past this point, as the last time I had a high ankle sprain it took ages to recover, and I was much younger at the time. Actually, if I'm smart, I'll continue to wear the brace for a while after it's no longer a necessity, since it helps remind me to be careful on it. Besides, I think the orthopedic look is in this year.

"Whip one together"? They aren't making PANCAKES. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?

You're right. Pancakes take more time and cost more on a massive scale. They've had these vaccines for decades now. Innovation is just a few tweaks here and there to respond to bacterial mutations. Everything is mass-produced very cheaply overall. Companies like Glaxo, Novartis and Sanofi-Aventis are making $5-$10 billion a year - each - in profit on their vaccines alone. The good people at Aunt Jemima sure aren't making that kind of dough. There's nothing noble in any of this.

NYT Ebola Facts.

The NYT published that yesterday.
"Van Gogh painted alone and in despair and in madness and sold one picture in his entire life. Millions struggled alone, unrecognized, and struggled as heroically as any famous hero. Was it worthless? I knew it wasn't."
