Assassin's Creed Unity Reviews

The embargo on reviews for Assassin's Creed Unity is over, so evaluations of the stealth/action sequel are now online, as is a related Consumerist editorial on "3 Reasons Why Video Game Review Embargoes Are Particularly Anti-Consumer." Metacritic currently lists a grand total of zero official reviews for the Windows edition because consoles, so you'll have to look to the PlayStation 4 Reviews (currently an 81 metascore) and Xbox One Reviews (currently a 76 metascore) for answers at this time. Both the console and PC editions of the game have very low user scores, as it seems to suffer performance issues on all platforms, and there are a bunch of threads about this in the Steam forums and the Assassin's Creed forums. We also see word on a day one patch which may impact this, but the only patch notes we've been able to find are in German.

The game is clearly CPU-limited...

Yep, annual releases, season pass, micro transactions, fun stuff. Next Gen gaming.
I'll probably just pick up Ass Creed 4 on sale and play that instead. It's probably all patched up, have a bunch of DLC bundled and a heck of a lot cheaper than this new game.
The MP might be dead but I don't really care for the MP anyways.

Why don't they just name these Assassin Creed games by the year? You know, like sport titles? The rate they are churning these out with little difference in game play and just small tweaks here and there to claim a new game, it's pretty bad.

Maybe Assassin's Creed 2016 will be better...
I thought you were talking about CoD there for a second

Lol, I suppose it happens to all big franchises. Resident Evil, Final Fantasy, etc.

Is it a coincidence Jade Raymond just left Ubisoft before this got released?
She wasn't working on this game so I don't think her departure had anything to do with how the game turned out.

It was perfectly fine on a GTX 780/i7. Here anyway.

Well, except all the problems with Uplay of course (needed to update but wouldn't be able to, impossible to log in, ... had to wait for hours before moving past the terrible Uplay experience).

Which makes me wonder what little difference may get those game to work or stutter as hell. If you look at the users' opinion on Steam, people with apparently the same hardware are either over the moon or completely frustrated. Though they rarely detail their hardware / software configuration.

Also, Black Flag was on the same engine, though it was probably easier on the textures (but less on poly count?). We didn't see so many bad reports for this version, even on Metacritic.

Watch Dogs was a fucking mess. The micro-stutter issues, along with the plethora of Uplay server problems were the straw that broke the camels back. I requested a refund from Steam, but Gaben and his minions simply laughed at the idea of actually refunding customers for selling them broken software.

At this point i'm fairly certain i'd have better luck receiving a finished product buying meth from a corner store drug dealer than i would buying a $60 triple-A video game on release today.

Edit: I also might add, a friend of mine who torrented Watch Dogs still had the stutter issues, but could atleast play the game because the crack bypassed Uplay altogether. Oh the irony..

Holy shit, that is some truly fucking terrible coding.

I imagine there's a few bugs involved there though, rather than just performance scaling. Because changing settings, for me, doesn't really improve my framerate.

Yeah that has to be some kind of code loop somewhere that just destroys performance. (Or, as Egosoft calls it: "Every other line!" HEYYYYOOOO!)

It's still fucking terrible though, especially seeing as how the consoles are reportedly also running like shit. So the amount of testing apparently done on this game was... I'm gonna guess -15%?

Ubisoft is quickly going down the crapper again. First Watch Dogs, now this... If FC4 also sucks performance wise they're not going to have fun weathering the PR shitstorm.

Pretty sure they didn't test on a 3-titan system lol. That's pretty rare.

Most of those reviews seem to consist of "Doesn't run on my potato!" Which is a fair criticism. Game runs like poop.

So, I bought this game off GMG because my friend who I play Coop games with on Fridays wanted to play this game. I've never been a fan of thse games at all. So here I am 16 hours later and its still installing. All because of fucking UPLAY and their fucked up bullshit. I've read where many others are also having issues getting the game to install.

I have no fricking idea why this is taking so long and is going so slow. I have no issues at all on steam or Origin installing games. I've even done the bandwidth check and im getting my full up and down speeds of 20 down 3 up.

This is why I fucking hate UPLAY and UBI.

Apparently it not only runs like a turd on every platform, but it is a turd. What? Ubisoft shit out a game that's not ready for prime time? Say it ain't so!

Am i the only one who saw this at E3 and just couldn't get excited about it in anyway?
It looks EXACTLY like the ones before it, sans Black Flag, which was solid(but still terrible combat control/collision detection)which atleast tried something new and interesting.

Oh lookie, i'm doing the very same things i did last year.. And the year before it.. And the year before that..

Yawn..
