Sort of like how we paint terrorists as people seemingly insane and have no reason whatsoever to do harm. As if when we kill in war every living should is in agreement, that had to go. On top of that that no mistakes are made but if they are, all those affected just need to understand and get over it, it was a mistake. There cannot be any ill-will or vengeance, as if these people have no brains and emotions.

sounds like your problem is assuming people are rational or reasonable... but thats not the case
explanations, rationalizations, excuses.. its all secondary - people are just fucking monkeys that talk, dude.. and the talking comes after the monkey part, you see..
first thing that happens is biology, brain chemistry... in most cases the entirety of a persons "psyche" consists of nothing more than a conceptual mediation of endless hypocrisies
every once in a while you can find someone who sees, who knows, but not often.. plenty just dont want to, its about as heavy as you can get
