I wonder how many people complaining actually own and play Minecraft.
It's sold 55 million copies so probably most of them.

The most significant sentence in that article, "Microsoft is expected to pay close to $2.5 billion for Mojang, or about 8 times sales last year." So, that's just over $300 million in sales last year for Mojang. And since most of the sales are direct download, the profit margin is probably pretty high.
Did anyone have an answer for this?Mr. Tact wrote on Sep 10, 2014, 10:47:
Not that it really matters, but I was wondering... does anyone know how generous Notch has or hasn't been in giving away percentage ownership of Mojang to the employees? 1% of $2 billion is $20 million....

Until you mentioned him, I had never heard of Michael Pachter.
He used to essentially troll pretty heavily for attention with absurd headline bites. Well known for his grandiose and often vague predictions. He used to shit on the PC platform pretty regularly too so he doesn't have many fans around here haha.

To put this ridiculous number of $2 Billion in perspective the Bufffalo Bills franchise sold for about half of what Microsoft is rumored to be going to pay for Minecraft. That's just jaw-dropping.

Minecraft always felt like it was missing clear goals to me. I get that it was a sandbox, not comepletely unlike a box of Legos, but something like that doesn't hold my attention very long. On one Steam sale I bought a blocky shooter like Minecraft but with teams fighting over the very terrain you were shaping, (can't remember the name) and it seemed like it could hold my attention but for the fact it was a multiplayer only shooter, which I dislike very much.
