Transverse Announced

Piranha Games announces Transverse, a flight-based, sci-fi MMORPG from the creators of MechWarrior Online. They say a variety of preorder options are offered on the Transverse website, but don't mention there's a crowd-sourced funding campaign there as well, which has an ultimate goal of one million dollars. Here's a reveal trailer and the announcement:
Humanity has begun its first tentative steps beyond its home solar system. However, the journey has not been entirely peaceful...

From the creators of MechWarrior Online comes Transverse, a galactic flight-based MMORPG set in a persistent, distant sector of the galaxy where industry, science and combat shape humanity's interstellar progression.

When the division between humans on Earth and the trans-humans of the outer colonies threatened to develop into a system-wide war, the development of an interstellar jump drive offered an alternative and the trans-humans in the outer colonies were given the drive and a choice: integrate or emigrate.

They chose isolation.

Now immortal through the ability to transfer their consciousness into different host bodies, the trans-humans have multiple hosts that can be modified and improved to advance a pilot's skill. The future path humanity takes among the stars is in your hands.

With incredibly detailed ship and station construction, massive solar-system-wide player events and real-time, physics-based combat, Transverse puts the power in the pilot's hands. A fluctuating, real-time economy fueled by industry drives trade in a dynamic resource ecosystem, and player-generated contracts and missions can shift the balance of power at any given moment. Your reputation as a pilot throughout the galaxy will be judged by how well you fly, and the decisions you make.

Transverse is now available for pre-order via a variety of tiers starting at $30 USD.

Ok this is going to be a really long rant.

I have a bridge to sell anyone that thinks PGI can even deliver this game on time or its supposed features. 2 million stretch goal for "combat"? That's the best joke I've ever seen. Please, PLEASE, do research on who is behind making this game.

I know a lot of INSIDE shenanigans about PGI, and perhaps some people here do as well if they helped initially fund MWO.

PGI is known for delivering Minimum Viable products or "shovelware." They literally have no experience making space games, let alone mech warrior games. No one at PGI were involved with MW2, MW3, and MW4.

There is a reason why people can have enormous faith in SC and crew, since Chris Roberts actually WORKED on space games and hired Mark Fucking Hamill later on. Likewise, Braben MADE Elite games in the past.

What has PGI Made? Hmm, let's see, Bass Fishing Pro, some shitty Duke Nukem Forever multiplayer, and "Die Hard: Nakatomi Plaza". They are also being sued by Nintendo for not being able to complete a fishing game... a friggin fishing... game. You should see their glassdoor employee reviews. They have decent minions working for them, but Russ, Paul, and Bryan, the lead designers and producers are incompetent.

Now onto MWO, I bought into it based on nostalgia. Yes, nostalgia got the better of me, my bad. But MWO has literally been THE Early Access game that made me wary of backing projects I don't do research on beforehand. MWO is a "f2p" game that has stripped out practically every fantastic feature from MW2 up to MW4 (no single player, no dedicated server support for multiplayer)

+There are no dedicated server lobby rooms with a plethora of game options and modes like the old games (you are forced into a bad random match-maker)
+You have to pay hundreds of dollars for a handful of Mechs rather than pay 50 bucks and get 100 Mechs on a Disk to play forever (All your Mechs are on THEIR server, so when its shut down, you get no access to all those Mechs you paid hundreds of dollars for)
+If you want to play "free" you have to sit through grueling hours on end of grinding to get a few Mechs
+Many game mechanics are missing from previous MW games that made them more SIM-LIKE (MWO is more Arcade-like) coupled with MWO's terrible, TERRIBLE balancing of certain game mechanics
+Also there is no STOCK MODE, which was one of many important game mode options in the last games, so in order to survive in MWO's "match-maker" you have to customize, which takes a lot of grinding. This iterates a lot of people that prefer Battle Tech LORE and the basic loadouts of many variants

Last note - F2P does not work for a cherished franchise like Mech Warrior and that's all there is to it. But they are milking every dollar they can on that concept of a stripped down MechWarrior.
