Dead State Beta

This Steam community update announces that the Early Access edition of Dead State is now officially in the beta phase, though developer DoubleBear Productions feels compelled to remind everyone the role-playing game is still not a finished product (thanks Acleacius). They outline known issues as well as features they still plan on adding, and invite feedback to help make a better game. Here's word:
First, we want to remind everyone that the Beta is not the full game. While the Beta includes tons of new content and features, there are also content and features still missing, and most of those that are in the Beta still need balancing and optimization. There are also still going to be a host of bugs and technical issues that we’re still actively fixing behind the scenes. Similar to other prominent recent betas on Steam (Wasteland 2, Pillars of Eternity, Divinity), Dead State’s Beta doesn’t include all the final story, dialogues, or levels, but it’s sure got enough to keep you busy for quite some time! The idea behind the open beta is to expose as much content to you as we possibly can and get your feedback on both design and technical issues before we move on to the final release.

Actually this is an excellent zombie RPG for the price, and I would recommend it. The Alpha did not have much content but it was fun to try out. The Beta has added a lot of new content. I find the combat in Dead State to be a little more challenging than Wasteland 2's combat. (Hopefully W2 will improve in final.) The individual scene graphic detail is also very high quality.

I would wait to start a new game until the first beta patch arrives. Currently there is a random savegame bug and a rapidly inflating log file that causes pauses in combat, but they are already on to it.

They are also adding the ability to unload ammo for those that like to unload the few odd rounds in picked up weapons which was irritating. Just one of many items being added as they go.

I am a big fan of Fallout 1, 2, Tactics and Jagged Alliance, and though this is not a replacement it has been a breath of fresh air in comparison to many other titles in recent years.

If you do not hop onto the Beta, I would definitely check it out on final release.

(I read this news almost daily, I just have not posted much since the Quake days. )

An incredibly talented team, going the extra mile to distinguish their game from just another generic zombie game. Nurturing it's design beyond what even AAA titles could/would or even willing to do.

Personally can't wait to try out the Choice and Consequences of some of the finest dialog writers of our generation. Zombie Plotting

I backed this and enjoyed the first seven day release. I've been out of town of course since the beta was released so I'm really looking forward to this when I get home. Got to meet some of them at pax so that was nice.

Anyone keeping up with this? Has it improved considerably? Premise is great but lots of negative comments about it on Steam so far.

It's quite overdue at this point, so hopefully they put a lot more work/effort into getting it done.

$30 seems about $10-$15 to high in this crowded field.
