Ships Ahoy - Sacred 3

Deep Silver announces that Sacred 3 is now out in North America, with versions of the action/RPG sequel available for Windows, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. A new official launch trailer show off the game, and here's an outline of what it's about:
Sacred 3 features classic arcade Hack ‘n’ Slash action centered around drop in, drop out cooperative multiplayer for both offline (2 players) and online (4 players) play. The game brings back fan-favourite characters such as the Seraphim, Ancarian, Khukuhru and the Safiri, as well as introduces a new character, Malakhim. Each character class features its own unique skills and weapons, which can be upgraded to match the player’s very own combat style. As they master the art of war, players will fight their way through enemy hordes and try to outshine their fellow companions on their way to become the greatest hero of all. The inclusion of mission stats and online leaderboards will continue to drive competition both locally and online. Victory Is Ours. Glory is Mine.

Looks okay for a $10-$15 Xbox Live Arcade game or something, but $50 is pure robbery.

The write up on Rock Paper Shotgun makes this sound pretty awful. Can't say I'm surprised, Deep Silver seems to be about the quick buck.

Hmm, Risen 3 seems absolutely great! Watch the "back to the roots" trailer and the latest full hour of ENGLISH gameplay on twitch.

Yesterday I quickly watched some gameplay footage of Sacred 3 on youtube. I thought it looked good. I didn't read up on the features of the game and thanks to you guys I now know the game has no loot system. What. The. Fuck?! A dungeon crawler without loot is... unfathomably stupid. I immediately understood the horrid reviews.

The Steam page should be telling enough. At the time of typing, there have been 353 user reviews of Sacred 3. Every single one is a thumbs-down negative review.

Every. Single. One.

I enjoyed the first two games, but I think I'll wait for a bundle with this one.

This a browser game shipping as a AAA title for PC.

Fuck Deep silver and fuck everything about those devs who couldn't come up with a better game.

I didn't like the first 2, but I liked the CGI for the third, so went to the Steam page to consider it... Looked over the reviews... first was negative... Unusual... next... negative... all... negative... Haven't seen that in like, ever...

Clicked on the 'All 178 reviews' linked... Just for fun, scanned through them all... Took like 140 to get to a blue/positive review... Counted 15 out of 178 were positive. Crazy shit.

This shouldn't have been tied to the Sacred series. Its not a Sacred game at all. I loved the previous two, so sad...

Avoid at all costs, this game takes a big dump on the Sacred name

I thought Sacred 2 was pretty decent. Seemed to have more heart and soul than Diablo, good graphics, etc. I never finished it though, because it seemed really long. This game though...no loot system? That turns me away right away. Most of the fun of these games is the loot. Getting rid of that is just damn lazy.

It's like an even shittier version of a shitty ARPG.

That's how I would describe it, there are no real fond memories of the series.
