Resident Evil Remake Remake Plans

CapCom Unity announces plans to bring an enhanced remake of the Resident Evil REmake to Windows, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 3 early next year, a modernized version of the 2002 beer-like game that improved upon the original Resident Evil from 1996. They offer some screenshots, including side-by-side character comparisons, showing the spiffed-up graphics this will feature, and describe an unusual pan-and-scan feature that will allow the game to be played in widescreen using the original 4:3 graphics without cutting off any important action. Here's a bit from the announcement:
Since its 2002 release, this re-imagined take on the PS1 original has remained one of the most beloved (and requested) titles in the series' history. From its incredible graphics and sound to numerous gameplay refinements, it turned an already amazing game into a must-play experience. The version you'll play next year, however, has additional enhancements to make it the definitive vision of the Mansion Incident.

Very much awesome indeed! Although I fully expect Capcom to put a $50 sticker on it at which point I'll wait till it goes on sale for $10.

I wonder why no one has taken the task to do this with the second title though.

I'm interested in this, but unfortunately, if they're porting the remake, I'm probably not going to end up enjoying it. I hated the respawning zombie mechanics of the remake. I'd rather play the original with updated graphics.

You mean the crimson zombies? Those weren't exactly respawning...they only came if you didn't burn the original zombie corpses.

give me some of that Resident Evil beer...

i remember that i actually bought a GameCube solely to play the Resident Evil remake and Resident Evil Zero. that was the only reason to get that system. (until RE4 came out.)

Is a remake of a remake still called a remake? I guess so. I like the Resident Evil movies, but haven't liked the games since the first couple.

Crimson zombies sound really lame.

But yeah I'd like to see it...

I liked part 2 because ammo was less scarce. Part 1 was a little japanese in the difficulty....

Weren't the Crimson Zombies only available after you beat the game on a certain difficulty and/or played a certain difficulty on the second playthrough or am I thinking of the One Deadly Zombie mode?

Either way, their distinct, off-screen, quick foot steps upon entering a cleared room was always something to keep you on your toes.

RE Zero was, IMO, just a massive pile of shit with that swapping mechanic and absolutely dreadful character that is Billy Biceps. It was a huge let down compared to REmake which were my only two reasons to own a GC too.

Reinsert the Master of Unlocking and it's all cool.

I'm also going to jump on the echo-train bandwagon and wonder why they haven't bothered with a RE2 remake yet. Still, I'm happy they're doing this, and even happier it's coming out on PC too.

Sadly, I want Parasite Eve remake just as much, if not more then this. But i'll agree. If your doing one... might as well do them all on a giant collectors edition box.

I'd be shocked if they left that line out.
