Firefly Online Trailer

A new If I Were a Captain trailer offers a first look at gameplay from Firefly Online, the upcoming Unity-engine MMOG based on Firefly, the cult-favorite science fiction series. The accompanying description indicates they are accepting signups for the game, but that demand overwhelmed their host, and they are in the midst of transitioning everything to Amazon, so none of the included signup links work for now. Here's the refresher they offer on plans for the game: "Players take on the role of a ship captain as they hire a crew and lead missions, while trading with and competing against millions of other players like themselves. Much like the crew of Serenity, the Firefly-class transport ship featured in the original show, players must do whatever it takes to survive in the Verse: find a crew, find a job and keep flying."

Didn't anyone else notice the for PC, mac and tablets and phones. How on earth is anything made to run on a tablet or phone going to be deep?

A tablet or phone is just a device. Touchscreen interfaces are pretty limited, sure, but they work fine for specific genres. Fallout 1 and 2, for example, would work fine on a tablet since the mouse-based UI and gameplay translates well to touch-based.

how about them having small screens, limited memory and processors? I know they've gotten stronger but its nowhere near a desktop processor.

I feel like you're confusing "depth" with "pretty graphics." A deep game doesn't need to look good. Gameplay has nothing to do with presentation. The original X-COM looks like crap but has tons of depth. I'm pretty sure any modern phone or tablet could run X-COM just fine.

I explained it poorly the point was, please name a game that is made for tablets or smart phones that is "deep". That market simply wants quick simple games. When I hear a game is being developed to work on desktops and smart phones I generally assume its going to smart phone style of quick and easy but not too much to hold my attention.
