Areal Funded; Putin a Backer?

The Areal Kickstarter is officially funded, and currently has collected pledges for over $62K of the $50K goal for the first-person shooter. Meanwhile, a Kickstarter update from West Games has an unusual story, even in the context of Areal, which is saying something, considering all the S.T.A.L.K.E.R.-related controversy embroiling the upcoming shooter. They describe receiving an email of support from Russian President Vladimir Putin, saying they initially were as skeptical about this as any of us would be, before outlining how they've managed to convince themselves that this may be legitimate. Since things are so quiet in Russia right now, Vlad apparently wants to do a little gaming, as part of the translation of the letter reads: "If you give me the chance to play the alpha version of the game, when it is ready, then I invite you in advance to the Kremlin, to meet personally, be ready to play a little bit and talk about the interests of young people, the gamers of our country." Thanks Rhialto.

It is so crazy, isn't? Like if Putin would do such a thing... c'mon!

Then there are a few folks there who really have no life to fill in the Comments so badly. Sadly, KS doing nothing but I heard they sometimes take action the last day.

Yesterday I created this page dedicated to WG in hope they could stop current campaign (it's not too late even if they reached their goal) and work on something to start over stronger later.

Anyway, we will see what happens this thursday.

Uh... it looks like it was ONE pledge... in the 10k or more bracket.

It was either one of them or one of their friends.... they'll get their money back plus the scammers get to split the 35k or so (minus kickstarter's take)

I doubt they will get anything, people are just waiting till the last day to pull their funding. And as for their so called President funding this game. Yea right, the Russians have way more to be concerned about right now then funding a game especially after its now coming out that the Russian's may have had something to do with the civilian airliner being shot down. Wars coming, and the Russians know they fucked up.

Yeah, they gained something like 24% (12K) in a couple of hours. Nothing fishy going on there!

Also, people have been spamming the fuck out of the comments since Friday afternoon (notice the spike in comments, above) and apparently even when reported, KS support doesn't work weekends.

Nothing like cheating to win...
