I don't remember that it sold well. Here's my memory:
1. People balked at paying $4 for horse armor. There was a massive hew and cry, and Bethesda was roundly criticized.
2. Bethesda never did this kind of DLC again, suggesting that it was not successful. They did a bit more experimentation, but have largely stuck with large traditional expansions to their products.
