So they're estimating $2 per month if two PCs were connected to the hot spot, streaming netflix, at all times.

This is an increase over idle. What is the increase over a router that already has 2 pcs connected streaming netflix?

Even still, I'm hard pressed to believe most of these routers will get even 10 hours a year connected, so, yeah, pennies.

Regardless, though, it should have been opt-in and should have come with a bill reduction. Want to turn your router into a hot spot? Save $2 per month on your cable modem "rental!"

I think this is the biggest sticking point to me, they hit you for fees for everything they can think of and when they need their customers to do something for them they act like its no big deal and they're actually doing them a favor. If the situations were reversed they'd be charging a hotspot location rental fee.
