Crytek Denies Bankruptcy Rumor

Eurogamer has comments from Crytek responding to recent allegations they are in serious financial trouble, denying they are flirting with bankruptcy. Here's what they say:
Regardless of what some media are reporting, mostly based on a recent article published by GameStar, the information in those reports and in the GameStar article itself are rumors which Crytek deny.

We continue to focus on the development and publishing of our upcoming titles Homefront: The Revolution, Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age, Arena of Fate, and Warface, as well as providing ongoing support for our CryEngine and its licensees.

We have received a lot of positive feedback during and after E3 from both gaming press and gamers, and would like to thank our loyal employees, fans and business partners for their continuous support

How many times have we seen a story like this on Bluesnews? A rumor about a gaming company comes out and shortly after, the company releases a statement denying the rumors. Then, a week or two later we find out it was entirely true. I've lost count over the years.

Yeah, but they have to deny it. Do you know what happens if they admit it?
They go bankrupt.

You want to do that at the last possible moment. As soon as you admit it, everyone treats you like you've already done it. It strains your finances even further and makes something that may only be likely now be guaranteed.

I totally understand that and was actually thinking exactly what you said as I was typing my original comment. They definitely have no choice but to hide it until the last possible moment. It's quite entertaining for us though since we see the same pattern over and over.

Yup. Depressing, really.
Crytek, though, is probably one of the few that's an outright surprise. Even 38 Greenmonster Whatever was surprising due to funding but a company many felt was probably not being managed overly well.

I hope Crytek can restructure and stay afloat. I have many fond memories from their games and would really hate to see them gone. I really enjoyed Farcry 1, especially MP.
