Watch Dogs Sets One-Day Sales Record

Ubisoft announces Watch Dogs has set their company record for first day sales, by selling some completely undisclosed number of copies, saying this is based on internal estimates of worldwide sales. There are lots of quotes, but no concrete numbers in a related update on the UbiBlog, and Ubi has never announced a one-day sales record before, so there's nothing to base an estimate on. The closest we can recall is an announcement from 2012 that Assassin's Creed III had set a first month record by selling over 7 million units.

It is a fun game without a doubt and the audio logs make it all the more interesting.

Funny that at 8am I'm actually having problems logging into uplay, only took me 4 attempts. Oh and if there is *one* thing that pisses me off to no end is that it refuses to accept my settings so it will run in full screen. Not windowed.

Almost every time I start the game it is in Window mode, even though I set it to fullscreen every time I play. Great job guys.

Add me to UPlay you guys!

Here's another record from Ubisoft, the cleverness of their support. This is the way to solve all the login connection problem so many suffered recently:

"To resolve you issue could you please uninstall the Uplay launcher from your PC.

Could you please go to http://uplay.ubi.com/en-GB and click on the link to download and then reinstall the launcher.

Once the Uplay client is reinstalled please do the following:-

Go to the following location - C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher

- Right click Uplay.exe

- Select properties

- Switch to the compatibility tab and tick run this program as an administrator.

- Click Apply and then OK.

Once you have done this please try to run the game again."

-- just to make sure, yes, it was ironic

except it really puts the quality of the shadows down when you set it to high. they become blurry. check the tweak guide to see.

Ubisoft's reputation for highly optimized PC versions never existed, so it can't really be damaged. They've always preferred the kitchen sink method for their PC versions. Lots of feature support, tons of options and tweaks, but no real time spent on optimization.

Their attitude is that people can turn the settings down or buy better hardware. It's a lazy attitude for them to take, but it's not a new one.

well i'm at least glad they support the PC platform to do a PC simul-launch for a console game such as this. they could be like R* and wait forever to release a PC port of GTA5, or maybe not even at all...

Might have been better PR to announce how they are aggressively working to resolve launch issues.

They aren't. People will eventually stop trying to log in en masse, and then their paltry infrastructure will be able to handle the load.

It completely hosed all of UPlay. Pretty embarrassing. It took me a while to figure out why I couldn't log into Rocksmith...

So far I'm liking it but I'm not as blown away as I would have liked. It reminds me a lot of the first Assassin's Creed - extremely ambitious and technically impressive but lacking a meaty substance. Hopefully if (i.e. WHEN) they make a sequel it'll be a comparable leap from AC1 to AC2.

Bought the game for 25 dollars. Took less than 10 minutes to realize it's... just not it, in all its ways. If I'm not getting a headache from the absolutely fucking retarded FOV (and its a third person game even!!) then I will from allllll those motherfucking pop-ups ALL OVER THE PLACE -- EVERY FUCKING TIME!!

And then there's a protagonist who stole shit from people and is to infantile to face the fact that he's the reason his little niece died. But instead you start the game in the middle of this pathetic vendetta against people who attackes Aiden on a vendetta in the first place. "But they targetted his family!" Yeah and he stole millions from them before that. What a great moral cesspit to build a character on.

Not really surprised, a lot of hype on this one. Keep in mind they are saying it's THEIR best selling first day, not industry-wide. Not really hard to believe since it's a new game so you don't have a bunch of people saying, for example "Eh, Assassin's Creed, I already know what to expect. I'll get it used or on Steam sale.

They haven't launched a big new IP in like 7 years, so...
