Funny that at 8am I'm actually having problems logging into uplay, only took me 4 attempts. Oh and if there is *one* thing that pisses me off to no end is that it refuses to accept my settings so it will run in full screen. Not windowed.

Also, put Shadows on High instead of Ultra. Fixes the lag.

So is the industry going to take this as a lesson that highly polished game releases are much less important than a glorified but misleading PR campaign? Did this unfinished release damage their rep with gamers?
Ubisoft's reputation for highly optimized PC versions never existed, so it can't really be damaged. They've always preferred the kitchen sink method for their PC versions. Lots of feature support, tons of options and tweaks, but no real time spent on optimization.
Their attitude is that people can turn the settings down or buy better hardware. It's a lazy attitude for them to take, but it's not a new one.

Might have been better PR to announce how they are aggressively working to resolve launch issues.
They aren't. People will eventually stop trying to log in en masse, and then their paltry infrastructure will be able to handle the load.

Those millions are now all sitting with their hands in hair thinking "Why give in to the hype? Why didn't I just pirate this first!?"
Bought the game for 25 dollars. Took less than 10 minutes to realize it's... just not it, in all its ways. If I'm not getting a headache from the absolutely fucking retarded FOV (and its a third person game even!!) then I will from allllll those motherfucking pop-ups ALL OVER THE PLACE -- EVERY FUCKING TIME!!
And then there's a protagonist who stole shit from people and is to infantile to face the fact that he's the reason his little niece died. But instead you start the game in the middle of this pathetic vendetta against people who attackes Aiden on a vendetta in the first place. "But they targetted his family!" Yeah and he stole millions from them before that. What a great moral cesspit to build a character on.
