Battlefield 4 Battlepack Sales

The Battlefield Blog announces that they are now offering a new way to acquire Battlepacks for Battlefield 4, DICE's military shooter sequel. Word is you can cut out the playing part of the process with cold, hard cash:
Starting today, we are introducing a new way to acquire Battlepacks, the bundles of content that provide a mix of in-game items including accessories, emblem shapes, profile pictures, dog tags, XP boosts, knives, and paints. Battlepacks can still be earned through normal gameplay progressions, but we are now giving players the option to purchase Battlepacks as a shortcut to catch up with their friends on the Battlefield.

Bronze, Silver and Gold Battlepacks will be available for purchase at Origin.com, Battlelog.com, through the in-game store, at Xbox Live Marketplace and at the PlayStation Store. Pricing will be $1 for Bronze Battlepacks, $2 for Silver Battlepacks, and $3 for Gold Battlepacks.

If you have any questions or comments about Battlepacks, don’t hesitate to reach out to us.

@ Slick

A decades-old tradition that has angered gamers from day one (remember road to rome etc..). Time doesn't lessen the anger. I doubt that you're trying to imply that time makes it more acceptable but your reply kind of gives that impression.

Thieves have been around for hundreds of years and getting robbed still pisses people off. Bottom line, things cost more and more with time and we seem to get less and less for the $ spent. If they charged more for the same amount of content ok but we seem to get less content and a less polished end product. If this was the auto industry... well you know where I'm going with all this..

Except back in the BF2 days, most of the servers ran stock maps. The expansions weren't as popular so you didn't NEED them. I also only play BF4 when I get burned out of the MMO I'm playing. I might have maybe 20 hours of play time. I like the game, but I'm not going to chuck another $50 down the toilet for the privilege to keep playing a game I already paid for.

I stopped playing because they keep releasing $20 map packs. If you don't cough up the dough each time, you're locked out of more and more servers. Maybe it's a $60 game. It's certainly not a > $120 game.

sigh.

ok first, paying $ for battlepacks is hilarious. if you could specify maybe "camo pack" or "emblem pack" then mayyyyybe i could see a use for them in some universe, still hilarious. i have probably 50 unopened battlepacks cause i just don't give a shit, they have nothing i want, and it's a time sink having ot open them when i'd rather be playing.

second:

BF1942 + all expansions: $110 USD
BF2 + all expansions: $110 USD
BF3 + all expansions: $110 USD
BF4 + all expansions: $110 USD

so bitching about $20 expansion packs, err DLC, err, mappacks, whatever you want to call them, isn't new, in fact it's more than a decade-old tradition, this should not have snuck up on you.

Who cares, the game has been out over a year.

When did 8 months become "over a year"?

They've had soldier weapon/vehicle shortcut kits for sale for a long time now, even that isn't pay to win.

Anyone who plays the game with any sort of regularity has all the attachments for every weapon they like already.

Why should it matter to you if people want to cough up money for in game items if they suck or can't play as much as other people?
Does it hurt you in some way?
Does it affect your game?
Nope, sure doesn't. Cause when it all comes down to it they still die to the same bullets as everyone else in game.

They already did this with Mass Effect 3 anyway, in case you missed the memo.

Laughable indeed. Or maybe just sad at this point.

So they've coupled pay-to-win with a slot machine?

If you've ever opened a battlepack you'd know how laughable calling it "pay to win" is.
