The reason the FPS is so terrible in rebirth is because their engine is a giant broken mess. The renderer has been literally broken since the very first day of release. People on the forums actually had to figure out what the problem was, Egosoft acknowledged the bug, and has yet to fix it.
X-Rebirth is going to be a "What Not To Do" case study for the next five decades. im gonna be really surprised if egosoft stays in business after that one
and even if they do, by the time they get something else out, there will be a plethora of new, much much better space sims already available |

While completely unnecessary, the Uplay integration in Far Cry 3 proved largely unobtrusive, even in the Steam version. |

On GMG in the product description it says the game requires Uplay. I very much doubt Steam is selling a different version that doesn't require it.
I am looking forward to this game and will grab it after release if the player feedback is positive. |

One thing I haven't seen any confirmation on is if the Steam version requires Uplay. It's not listed in the requirements like it is for other games requiring Uplay. It will definitely require Uplay regardless of where you buy it. All of Ubisoft's first-party games require Uplay. If you look at the Steam store page's system requirements on all of those titles it specifically says it requires a Uplay account. The store page for Watch_Dogs does not. On a note, South Park does not require UPlay either, Ubisoft seems to finally get the hint that Steam + UPlay is not necessary and keeps UPlay off Steam games As Creston said, South Park wasn't a first-party Ubisoft title. The lack of Uplay in the requirements for Watch_Dogs is just an oversight. I can guarantee that the game requires Uplay regardless of where you buy it. |

I wouldn't worry about that. You can say what you want about Ubisoft's games, but they make very good PC ports. *knocks frantically on every piece of wood in the vicinity* I would be shocked (SHOCKED, Cotton! SHOCKED!) if they released a turd like X:Rebirth.

I'll buy the Watch_Dogs Hardcore Hardware version that comes with an intel octocore. Should be out by the end of this year.

Also remember that the South Park game was in production for a good while at THQ, before they imploded and Ubisoft came to buy it up. They had no feature integration for Uplay and luckily weren't mandated to crowbar it in there during that last year or so of development.
Quinn wrote on Apr 7, 2014, 08:44: GTX680 so I'm in the clear. Don't care about the other specs -- as long as the rest of your rig is only sligtly above average, nothing will bottleneck your GPU. I wouldn't say that... If it's anything like GTA simulation-wise, then it will be very heavily CPU dependent. Back when GTA IV came out, I had a GTX 275 and Core 2 Duo E6600. When I got another 275 for SLI, I gained only 5-10 FPS. But when I upgraded to a Core i7 920, my FPS doubled compared to what it was originally. The CPU was holding back my GPU capability, despite being the most popular gaming chip of a few years previous and heavily overclocked as to be performing identically to the then $1000 Extreme Edition variant.

Definitely a wait and see game for me too. I really hope it isn't just Assassin's Technocreed or something but Ubisoft loves their collectathons. |

I'm also adopting the wait and see position on this one. As for Requirements, I 'only' have a 2500k but its OC'd to 4.7ghz (like many others have theirs) and i'd be suprised if a game thats not a RTS game makes it the bottleneck over the GPU in the next 3-4 years. |

Hmm time to upgrade my video I guess as I'm still putzing along on a 5750. Rest was upgrade 2 years ago to over the recommended but didn't game much beyond going back to WoW at that time to justify a new vid then. Same engine as The Division will use so guess I'll wait a few more months. |

To justify such high specs the game better look and play the part. I really hope it does, as PC gaming has always been about pushing the edge. There really isn't any excuse for gamers having less than 8GB RAM and the eight-core CPU recommendation lists an Intel 3770K (a 4-core CPU with hyperthreading) so that looks mostly aimed at AMD users.
As for console versus PC, the XB1 and PS4 are limited to 30fps and run sub-1080p/1080p - as long as the PC version isn't framerate limited then it's a no brainer. |
