Raven's Cry Delayed Again

A new Raven's Cry website announces a new October 14, 2014 release date for Raven's Cry, TopWare's upcoming seafaring RPG. This is the latest delay for a game that was announced for release in Q2 2012, then delayed to October 2013, and delayed again to this May following a developer switch before this latest setback. They explain that the game "has doubled the amount of cargo in her holds," and list the following new features it will include:

  • New skills for the captain (a skill tree with over 25 options)
  • The personal story of Christopher Raven (more than 25h of main storyline)
  • Additional adventures and skirmishes (open-world setting and side quests)
  • An economic system with a wide variety of tradable goods and simulated price adjustments
  • Realistic naval combat
  • Depictions of the dark life of pirates (cinematic cutscenes)

I liked TW2. I am saddened this won't have full game coop. I figured since TW2 had a coop mode that they had the knowledge in hand to make a fully coop RPG. It would be a slightly poor-man's Coop Skyrim that some dream about. But I'm still interested to see how this one turns out. It was a young team that to me have improved on every release. I'm totally ok with companies like that, they may have had a rocky start.

Does every damn new game have to be co-op now? Some games are meant to be single player experiences. There isn't a shortage of co-op games.

I wish people would stop trying to tack it onto everything.

I wasn't very impressed by the Two Worlds games but that's mainly because they were so painfully generic. The pirate setting is already far more interesting so hopefully the rest of the game holds up.

Here's some new footage (including naval combat): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsBlIPsWaqI

ok thats not too bad

one thing i really liked about two worlds 2 was how well the engine ran, and it looked decent enough too

Thanks for posting the link to the video.

Two Worlds II is a beautiful game, I found the side quests to be very entertaining, the Co-Op was also very fun.

Raven's Crys person combat looks much better than AC4, thank goodness. Not sure about the ship battles, they look like alpha so I wont judge harshly. The damage system looks better though (for the ships), with bits falling off, just need to work on the animations/effects.

Anyone have a translation for the video?

Realistic naval combat
I was wondering what they were going to do about this due to AC4, now we know these guys (Reality Pump) have done some nice boating mechanics before in Two Worlds II.

Can not wait for this game, shame about the delay but as long as it comes out this year that will be awesome! Hopefully it will be AC4 but way more RPG instead of tree jumping.

I wonder if they will have ship upgrades.
