but honestly, as a PC title it's a joke. The gameplay is a bit Junior's first Deus Ex adventure, and user interface, textures, tiny maps, single save game slot, disappearing bodies all remind you: This is not a port of a mobile game, this is a mobile game.

Yeah, I watched Totalbiscuit's Let's Not Play the other night, and the game looks like a total mess.

Glad I didn't spring for it, and I'd advise others to skip it as well. Sad, as I was really hoping for something good...

Finally got round to playing this.

Noodling around Deus Ex land one more time was fun. Sneaking, evading guards, the Human Revolution hacking mini-game - at times Deus Ex: The Fall felt like the real thing - but honestly, as a PC title it's a joke. The gameplay is a bit Junior's first Deus Ex adventure, and user interface, textures, tiny maps, single save game slot, disappearing bodies all remind you: This is not a port of a mobile game, this is a mobile game.

And the bugs... Configure your speakers in Windows to Stereo or voices won't play, with subtitles only appearing for a fraction of a second. And there were severe mouse issues - sometimes I would try to open a door, but had to click the "hack" button several times before the game noticed. Also choosing the correct NPC for dialogue was a mini-game itself - how do I position myself to speak with that one? - with the bonus hazard of a container or door sometimes conspiring to steal my selection.

Wouldn't be fair to comment on the shooty bits, since I always sneak around pacifist style in these games. Maybe it's great, maybe it's crap - who cares?

So I've scoured the map for side quests, rummaged through every bin, spoken to every NPC I could find. Guess it's safe to move to the next hub. So I get to the choppa, a cutscene plays, "TO BE CONTINUED" appears and I discover I've completed the entire game. Oh, right, $10.

If you're a huge Deus Ex fan, and/or you have a good imagination, maybe it's worth that $10. But look at the Steam store page: Limited Time Offer: Purchase Deus Ex: The Fall and receive Deus Ex – Game of the Year Edition for free! Or, if you prefer, Purchase Deus Ex – Game of the Year Edition for $10 and receive Deus Ex: The Fall for free!

p.s. For one fanboy mini-letdown I couldn't find the original Deus Ex main title playing anywhere.

I wish they'd do a nice 300-500 page hardbound book over the art of Deus Ex...I'd preorder in a second.

Have you read Icarus Effect by James Swallow? It's 341 pages.

Yeah, it's ok. I hear this game is either related to of apart of that. Gunther makes an appearance...

If you're interested, you can pickup the soundtrack on cd or digital. Both it and the graphic design are extremely memorable.

I loved Human Revolution and the dlc but this looks like a money grab. With the director's cut, you at least got commentary for the $5.

I've actually just gotten to playing Human revolution and really enjoying it.
I bought it last year and for some reason only started playing it recently.

So far, it is hands down the best FPS game I've played in years... hell maybe even since HL2.

The art direction is astounding, the music and sound phenomenal, the atmosphere enthralling.
Sure, it's got some campy dialogue, but this game has completely drawn me in

Wish I could, but the game won't even run for me. I get the "<stringid: 1,942>" error that more than a few people are reporting on the Steam forums.

Additionally, apparently the keyboard bindings can't be remapped - at all. Unfortunately, this should have just stayed on mobile.

Actually, that's a perfectly valid review!

Hope I'm wrong but I have no confidence in eidos to put out AAA material, especially after Thief. If it's mediocre of better I'll get it 50% to 75% off sale.
It's a budget game - it's not even trying to be "AAA material".

I have enjoyed this on my iPad. It was a competent game, but I was always thinking of it in terms of "this was pretty good for a mobile game."
I think 10 bucks is too much if it's the same.

Most disappointingly, the mobile version just abruptly ended at what felt like a halfway point in the story with a simple COMING SOON promise. I wonder if they changed anything with regards to that in the PC version.

All the music were also just recycled Human Revolution tracks.

The worst criminal in human history, undeniably. There has never been a figure in political history, so dedicated to destroying the prospects of organized human life on the planet, in the near future.

Funny how you can get this exact same game on the Android for less than $1. Early impressions of the port are bad. Sloppy mouse controls seem to be the biggest issue.

I've actually just gotten to playing Human revolution and really enjoying it. I picked it up in a summer sale probably two years ago, started playing it and something frustrated me and I stopped, but I have no clue what that could have been since I'm having a grand ole time with it now.

I know its a port from a mobile game, but I hope it's fun.
