For extorting dozens of people? Had he been a mobster who extorted dozens of people IRL for money, he'd have gotten twenty years. But because it's on the computer, so apparently it's not really "real" or something, and he just extorted these girls for sex, 18 months is fine.

You probably know this but, people usually have to only serve half of the sentence for good behavior. But yeah 9 months is still steep, considering his career outlook is probably permanently damaged since employers often do background checks nowadays.

But it's not like the nine months is going to 'correct' him or anyone else, even though they call it a correction facility.

Yeah, that word has definite ring to it and not all negative at that.

That was my hope uh, thought too. Oh well.

18 months doesn't seem unduly strict. Plenty of hackers get sentences that far exceed their crime but extortion is a different matter.
